  A Compendium of Students’ Stories

  Dedication

To the Maker of All, Creator of All Creatures, The Omniscient and Immanent God, Source of All Beauty and Wisdom, and to

children and teenagers everywhere who desires to express the various stories in the adventurous imaginations of their minds for the world to see.

  Preface

This is the second in the 3niti Multimedia Academy (3MA) Children Projects Publications, this one being a compendium of stories by the 2014 summer multimedia training students.

In August 2014, 3MA organized a 3-weekend, 5 hours a day training for Children between ages 4 and 19. The children were taught Multimedia Basics. Within a cumulative period of 15 hours, they learnt how to use the Microsoft Windows 7 & 8, Ms Paint application, Sound Recorder, Notepad, WordPad, Muvee Auto Producer, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.

It is so amazing to see children learn at such a quick pace and come up with their own stories and drawings within such a short period.

I am glad to present this work to you and hope it will inspire creativity amongst our children everywhere in the world, equipping them better for the challenges of tomorrow.

  Enjoy the stories.

  Model Me

Story and Picture Illustrations by Oluwasijibomi Ese ANI - 12 years

  I am Ani Oluwasijibomi.

  Modeling is my thing.

I loved this job when I clocked 12 years on the 2nd of August 2014.

The best thing about the job is that you get a chance to show your beauty,

the whole world would see you and you would be famous for that.

There are many types of models:

Runway Models, Nail Models, Foot Models, and Pose Models.

  Modeling is my dream.

Being a model means a lot to me, and I am not going to give up on my dreams.

I love runway and pose models

I want to be a runway model, and a pose model.

I would be paid $500 per day,

and it would increase to $1000 per day when I do my work well.

As a model, you have to treat everyone nicely.

If you go to the modeling agencies and you are not picked, don't feel bad.

Modeling is fun for people who take it seriously.

Things you need to become a model include:

Pose: You need to learn how to pose if you want to become a pose model.

Height: In modeling, you must be skinny and tall.

  Runway Modeling

  Runway models catwalk.

  How to Catwalk:

  1. It doesn’t matter if you are comfortable. Choose the right shoes.

  2. Learn to stand like a super model.

Practice your posture, throw your shoulders back and down, and push your hips slightly forward.

  3. Place the ball of your foot first ( not the toes), then your heel, but keep most of your weight balanced then on the heel.

  4. Put one foot in front of the other ( literally): Toes should face forward. Your foot print should be zigzag. Your ankles should never bump. Bumping your ankles is painful and may make you fall.

  A Model!

That's what I love to be.

  Modeling!

That’s what I love to do.

  Misi & Miffy

Story by Imisiolwa Abolade Love BOLARIN - 7 years

  Misi is a lovely girl

She has a cute doll, a teddy bear called Miffy

Miffy was sleeping when Misi came into her room

Misi showed Miffy a good-morning picture

  Misi said, “Good morning Miffy”

Miffy sat down properly on her chair.

Miffy was bathed and dried with a towel.

Misi said “ Miffy, come and wear the beautiful dress my mum bought for you”.

Miffy looks gorgeous in her new dress.

It was break-fast-time, so Misi showed Miffy her plate before serving her.

Bread, butter, and cola-drink were served for break-fast

  This is Miffy’s favourite meal

Misi fed Miffy first, before eating.

  Miffy really enjoyed the meal

After feeding Miffy, Misi ate her break-fast.

The recorder is in the room

Miffy tried to play some tunes on it, but couldn’t make a good sound.

Misi showed her how to play a nice melody on it.

Miffy said she will try again

Misi allowed her, now a better sound was made.

The recorder was returned to its place after making some good music.

Misi was happy playing with Miffy.

Miffy was placed on the tricycle to ride.

Mayo, Misi’s brother said he wants to play with Miffy too.

Mayo spent some time playing with Miffy.

Mayo was also excited playing with Miffy.

Mayo got his beautiful Ben 10 ball,

  and his blue ball,

and allowed Miffy to play with it.

  Miffy was happy.

Misi painted Miffy’s face with her mum’s cosmetics.

Misi also fetched her mummy’s green beads Chain.

Miffy was placed on a red chair.

Misi put the beads on her neck.

After all the play, Misi removed Miffy’s dress,

Washed it, and spread on the line outside.

  Miffy had a shower.

Misi also hung her with pegs on the line because Miffy was wet.

Now, Miffy and her dress are hanged on the line.

  Miffy was brought inside.

  Miffy put on her pajamas.

  She said she still wants to play;

A game of hide and seek before sleeping.

Misi read bed time stories for Miffy.

Misi placed Miffy on her bed and said, “Good night Miffy”

  Lex Ray - 1

Story by Crispus JAMES - 11 years, Illustrations by Christbell JAMES - 19 years

IT ALL BEGAN IN A VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT ON THE BEACH

It was a hot and sunny day at the beach as Lex and his friend Iyke were playing volleyball.

They were battling against their opponents and rivals, Pit and Bradley, who were always picking on them and making t
heir lives miserable.

Lex always found Pit to be a challenge. Lex in any possible way gave Pit the taste of his own medicine, so Pit tagged him as his very special number one enemy.

Lex was a seventeen year old extrovert who was in his final years at Enville High School with Pit and Bradley who were constantly on his neck

High school was almost like hell. Despite this, Lex and Iyke his friend always fought back.

Lex came from a rich and classy family. Despite that, he was very friendly, sociable and humble. However, he had a deadly and destructible temper.

He came from a family of five. His ten years old brother, Logan, was always getting on his nerves; and ever trying to worsen his mood. His curious, friendly, ever active, and mischievous dog, Sparky, gave him no breathing space in the house.

Lex had a natural liking and obsession for electronics, robots, gadgets, e.t.c .

His father was partly responsible for this because he was the CEO of a company that produced modern technologies.

Lex also inherited a high sense of curiosity from his mum who was a retired cop and now a house wife.

The battle of Pit vs Lex had begun. They were always challenging themselves. This time, Lex had taken Pit up on a challenge in volleyball, a game he was good at. Also, Lex was a very tough bolt for Pit, as he didn’t know how to play.

Everyone at Enville High School expected Pit to refuse the challenge, as he didn’t know how to play volleyball. It was a very huge surprise to everyone that Pit took up the challenge

Pit placed a bet on Lex’s motorcycle and lunch money while Lex placed a bet on his freedom and toilet cleaning till they graduate.

The heat was on as Lex and Pit battled against each other. It was a shock to everyone that all of a sudden, Pit was as good as Lex. He was playing like a pro, and this made Lex to worry.

The real shock came when Pit started winning. Lex was even more surprised, and then started playing furiously. Then the unthinkable happened, Pit won. Enville High was shocked.

Lex wondered how Pit could win him in his old game.

Now, there was no turning back, his hands were tied. He had to accept defeat, and defeat was definitely very bitter. Now, he had to fulfill his promise.

With anger, Lex left with his friend, Iyke. They went to a snack bar to discuss. Lex expressed his anger and suspicions to his black Nigerian friend, Iyke, who had been his friend since sophomore year.

Iyke was a Nigerian teenager; the same age as Lex. He came to America to continue his studies. He and Lex met on his first day at school when Pit and Bradley were bulling him. Lex had then stood up for him, and immediately bonded. Since then, little by little, they had become tight friends, telling each other their deepest and darkest secrets. They weren’t friends anymore, they were brothers.

Iyke’s father was a Nigerian five star general, and his mother an American. His father had decided for some strange reasons that Iyke had to go to America to continue his studies, and stay with his mum over there.

Iyke has always been the cool, calm, and collected dude who never loses his cool, while Lex was the very difficult one, with a raging temperament. They somehow blended with each other at Enville High, and nothing was impossible for them as long as they were together.

They discussed, talked, and came to a conclusion that, maybe Pit has been training secretly. Then, they parted and went to their separate homes.

By the time Lex got home, it was already in the night. He had no option than to sneak into his room, passing by the dog carefully, so that he woundn’t wake the whole house.

Lex laid on his bed, and then thought of how he was going to give away his motorcycle. With the thought on his mind, he slept off.

Lex woke up, not glad that he was going to school, because he didn’t know how he was going to face the whole school. He had a quick breakfast, discussed with his mother and family, and BOOM, he was out the door, visiting his friend, Iyke.

They both went to a cybercafe, and then late at night, back to Lex’s house. When Lex and Iyke got to his room, there was a special lamp on the walls that he pulled.

A mysterious door was opened in his room that led to an extraordinary wall, in which he had to give his password. On a particular place Lex drew an octahedron shape with a pyramid. In the middle of the pyramid, which was upside down, he placed his hands in the middle. Just then, something incredible happened.

There, upon the wall, for a moment, they were moving around, forming different shapes, scattering, and then later taking their places. They formed the shapes Lex had drawn earlier. Something came up, and Lex had to put his eyes to be examined by the computer and then the wall moved and led them to a small room in which he and Iyke had to sit on a chair that was floating. Then with high speed, the chair took them underground. It took some time from the surface to the underground due to the far distance. BEHOLD LEX’S GIGANTIC GARAGE OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRONIC GADGETS, ROBOTS, MACHINES, CYBORGS AND COMPUTERS.

There were lots of mini robots going up and down, speaking weird languages and carrying out duties. Again, Lex and Iyke had to sit on the floating chair which took them to Lex’s private office. Just then, a female computer voice was heard welcoming them, “WELCOME TO LEX’S MECHANICAL GARAGE OF........(weird languages)...”.

It was like another world underground. Lex and Iyke immediately set out with their work to investigate Pit’s victory in the tournament.

Back in the house, everyone was sound asleep. Not even his dog was awake, no one knew what was going on underground.

Meanwhile, in the other part of the city, there were men who were in the shadows, so their faces couldn’t be seen. It was obvious that most of them were cyborgs, who clearly didn’t have good intentions.

The smell of cigarettes filled the air. Surprisingly, Pit and Brad were found in their midst...

  Be Helpful to One Another

Story and Illustrations by David AKINDELE - 11 years

A short story dedicated to my mum, dad, and siblings, Daniel & Dominion.

It was a hot day in the forest. He sat under a shady tree. He was very tired.

Ban the mouse was playing happily in the forest. He jumped about here and there.

He saw Fan’s tail and ran up the tail. Fan did not wake up. Ban became a little bold. He wanted to have some fun. He ran up again. Fan still didn’t get up. Oh, this was great fun!

Ban became even more bold and danced on Fan’s head.

Fan got up with a loud roar. He was very angry. He caught Ban with his paws.

Ban was very scared. He said in a small voice, “Fan, I am sorry. Please don’t eat me. I was only playing. Please let me go. I shall always be your
friend. Maybe one day I can help you.”

Fan laughed. He said, “You are so small. How can you ever help a big lion like me?”. Fan thought, “Anyway this mouse is too small to eat. I am also full. I will let him go.” So Fan put Ban down.

A few days later, some hunters came to the forest. They spread out nets to catch animals. Fan was caught in a net. Fan was very angry. He roared loudly. All the animals heard the lion but they were afraid of coming out from their various cottages because they don’t want to get into trouble. Ban heard Fan. He said to himself, “My friend is in trouble. He needs my help.”
