LUIGUI:
(Shrugging)
She’s fine… I guess…
CHRISTOPHER:
(Points with his finger a restaurant)
Hey guys, what you think about that restaurant… I’ve heard a few good comments about it.
MARIO:
Ok, I’m hungry!
CUT TO…
INT. RESTAURANT. DAY.
Mario hasn’t touched his food. He is watching to the sky through the window of the restaurant.
LUIGUI:
(To Mario)
Hey! Don’t you want that? (Points Mario’s waffles)
MARIO:
Yeah! I’m eating!
LUIGUI:
But, you have not even looked at your breakfast; you’re just watching the sky.
STEPHANNY:
(To Mario)
What’s wrong?
MARIO:
I’m just…
STEPHANNY:
Don’t think about him. When you finish your breakfast I’ll buy you a new ream…
LUIGUI:
(To Mario)
What happened…?
MARIO:
John and I… just…
LUIGUI:
(Interrupted to Mario)
Got it! New fight!
CHRISTOPHER:
Old fight!
The buzz stars.
LUIGUI:
(To everyone)
Do you hear that?
CHRISTOPHER:
Actually, yes.
The sky turns into sepia.
MARIO:
Mom! Look at this (Points the sky and stands up)
Christopher and Stephanny look at each other’s eyes. They shakes theirs heads.
CHRISTOPHER:
Boys! We need from you that remain in calm. Go to the car, enter to it as fast as you can, and wait for us there.
MARIO:
What? Why?
STEPHANNY:
(Screaming)
Just do it! Now!
The two boys stand up and walk quickly to the car.
CHIRSTOPHER:
(To his wife)
I’ll go to pay, you go with them…
STEPHANNY:
This should not be happening now!
CHRISTOPHER:
I know, babe! But, we need to act and think quick…
The earthquake begins.
STEPHANNY:
Oh… no!
CHRISTOPHER:
Oh no! This is serious! We need to reunite the council.
STEPHANNY:
They lied to us!!
MARIO:
Mom! Dad! Please hurry!
Christopher and Stephanny runs to the car. They fall a couple of times because of the violent earthquake.
MARIO:
Mom! Dad!
Mario’s parent finally gets out of the restaurant, but a huge yellow “M” falls on them.
MARIO:
NO!!!!!
Mario runs to their parents. Luigui follows him.
MARIO:
Mom! Dad!
Christopher is dead. Stephanny is dying.
MARIO:
(In Tears)
Dad! No!! Dad!!!
STEPHANNY:
(Babbling)
Listen to me son… you need to go to the countryside, stay away from the city…
MARIO:
No! Mother!
Huge chunks of rocks fall around them.
Luigui look at the sky, he sees a huge black triangle.
LUIGUI:
What… the… hell…!
STEPHANNY:
Tell to John… that… I… I… I’m sorry for hurting him… (She died)
MARIO:
NO!!!
LUIGUI:
(To Mario)
Hey… look at that!
MARIO:
Leave me alone!
A flashing white light blinds Mario and Luigui, and suddenly, they’re all alone and day becomes night.
CUT TO…
Outside of the restaurant, Mario improvises two tombs for his parents. Luigui helps him.
FADE TO BLACK…
It’s been two hours. Mario is sitting in front of the tombs of his parents. His eyes are dry and red. His facial expression is an infinite sadness. Mario’s clothes are filthy with dirt and blood.
Luigui is sitting a couple of meters from Mario. He wants to comfort him, but he doesn’t dare.
Finally, Luigui gets some courage and walks to his friend.
LUIGUI:
Hey, buddy, how are you?
Mario ignores him.
LUIGUI:
We have to do something… you know… I have to go to my home; I want to see my parents…
MARIO:
We’re dead, you know…
LUIGUI:
What?
MARIO:
You and me, we are dead. This is hell.
LUIGUI:
No, we’re not dead, we are much alive.
MARIO:
How you explain the darkness…? Uh? It’s 11 o’clock in the morning, and the sun just… disappear. This is like a Rolling Stones’ song.
LUIGUI:
I’m sure there’s another explanation.
MARIO:
Like what?
LUIGUI:
This is an extraterrestrial attack!
MARIO:
C’mon!
LUIGUI:
I saw a ship! A BIG SHIP!
MARIO:
You saw nothing!
LUIGUI:
If you don’t want to believe me, I don’t care! Right now, I need you to come with me!
MARIO:
Where?
LUIGUI:
To my home! I need to know what happen with my parents and my family!
MARIO:
Go alone! I don’t want to go with you!
LUIGUI:
You have to go with me!
MARIO:
Why?!
LUIGUI:
(Crying)
Because, I helped you to bury your parents, and now is your turn to help me… That’s what friends are for.
Mario hugs Luigui.
FADE TO BLACK…
INT. ROOM. NIGHT.
Luigui and Mario are in front of a bed; Luigui’s parents are on it. The corpses are covered, from head to toe, with a white blanket.
MARIO:
Do you want to… (Pause)
LUIGUI:
Bury them… (Pause) No.
CUT TO…
EXT. STREET. NIGHT.
Mario and Luigui are in the middle of a street. They’re watching the sky.
LUIGUI:
Now what?
MARIO:
I don’t know… (Pause) I see no ship!
LUIGUI:
Telling you, it was huge.
MARIO:
You’re delusional!
LUIGUI:
I’m not… (Pause) Now what?
MARIO:
I don’t know! Let’s go to store… I’m hungry… There’s a lot of food on the store.
LUIGUI:
Ok…
CUT TO…
EXT. KNIEGGE’S STORE. NIGHT.
Mario and his friend arrive to the store. There’s a lot of kid in front of it. The kids are his young neighbors, and all of them are crying.
Gale sees them arrive and run to Mario. She hugs him really hard.
GALE:
(Crying)
Mario! It’s good to see you! It was hell! I lost my parents! I have to bury them!
MARIO:
Oh no! I’m sorry!
GALE:
(Crying)
We don’t know what to do! There’s no government! There’s no police! We’re all alone!

INT. APARTMENT. NIGHT.
Mario is looking for the keys of the Store on his parent’s room.
LUIGUI:
Where’s your brother?
MARIO:
I don’t know.
LUIGUI:
Do you want to know?
MARIO:
Not really… (He finds the keys) Found it!
CUT TO…
INT. KNIEGGE’S STORE. NIGHT
The kids enter to the store running and smiling. Gale runs directly to the Doritos.
GALE:
Umm, Doritos!
Mario, Luigui and Darrel are the last ones to enter.
DARREL:
(To Mario)
What are we going to do?
LUIGUI:
He’s right! What are we going to do?
MARIO:
Why are you asking me? I don’t know!
DARREL:
You are the president of our class… You are the last authority on earth.
MARIO:
Oh! C’mon! I’m nothing!
LUIGUI:
You are the most organized person that I know.
DARREL:
Yeah! Yeah! He’s right!
MARIO:
You both are so pathetic! You know very few people.
LUIGUI:
The history professor congratulates you for your work…
MARIO:
It was just a home work!
LUIGUI:
Yeah! But, you created the most egalitarian imaginary country in the world. And the currency; The Phoenix? Right? Just brilliant!
MARIO:
I told you! It was just homework!
DARREL:
Yeah, but now, you have the opportunity to become that homework into reality.
LUIGUI:
(To Mario)
Yeah! You are the man!
MARIO:
I don’t know!
All the kids turn their heads to Mario.
MARIO:
Why you all are looking at me?
GALE:
We need you!
MARIO:
No! NO!! I’m nothing!
Mario gets out of the store. Luigui follows him.
CUT TO…
EXT. STORE. NIGHT.
LUIGUI:
(To Mario)
What’s wrong with you?
MARIO:
I don’t want this responsibility! I’m nothing!
LUIGUI:
Stop to say that! You are anything but nothing!
MARIO:
I don’t want that kind of responsibility! I just want to do what my mother told me…
LUIGUI:
What?
MARIO:
Go to the countryside! And stay away from the city!
LUIGUI:
Well, if that’s your decision, we all are with you!
MARIO:
NO! I want to go by myself!
LUIGUI:
You can’t be alone! We are the last ones! We need to remains together!
MARIO:
(Sees a group of people approaches to the store)
Oh no! Look! (Points the group of people)
LUIGUI:
Aren’t they John’s friends?
MARIO:
(Disappointed)
Yes.
LUIGUI:
Is he with them?
MARIO:
Don’t know!
David, Daniel, Diana and Michelle approaches to Mario.
DAVID:
(To his friends)
Look! More survivors!
Michelle got a huge bag.
LUIGUI:
(To Michelle)
What you got there?
She opens the bag and shows him the content; two robes.
LUIGUI:
Cool!
DAVID:
(To Mario)
What are you doing here?
MARIO:
Eh… eh… (Sees to Luigui) We are going to the Buckingham palace to… find… someone…
DIANA:

MARIO:
There must to be someone there… They are the royalty… They got tunnels and thing like that…
LUIGUI:
Are we really going to that palace?
MARIO:
Yes, we do!
LUIGUI:

MARIO:
(Muttering, to Luigui)
I don’t like them!
MICHELLE:
(To Mario)
Is your brother here?
MARIO:
No, I haven’t seen him!
MICHELLE:
And why you didn’t ask us; if we know something about him?
MARIO:
I just don’t care about him…
Mario’s words become an echo.
FADE TO BLACK…
CHELSEA (V.O.):
Hey, you! Now is not a good time for introspections!
We hear the sound of snapping fingers.
FADE TO WHITE…
Close up Chelsea’s face.
CHELSEA:
(To Mario)
We need to execute a plan… do you understand me?
MARIO:
(Takes off the robe)
Yeah! I hear you! I need to be responsible.
CUT TO…
INT. CELLAR. NIGHT (DECEMBER THE 23TH 2012)
All the teenage survivors are in the cellar of Kniegge’s Store. They are sitting waiting instruction from Chelsea. In front of everyone there are a lot of empty bottles and pieces of white cloths.
Google enters to the cellar with Carla. They bring bottles with chemicals for manufacture the Molotov cocktails.
John is sitting in the bottom of the cellar surrounded by his friends. Michelle has her arm on John’s Shoulder.
Mario and Luigui; who still is wearing the robe, are next to Chelsea.
Chelsea got Hope in her hands. She strokes the kitten like a bad guy from a James Bond Novel.
The kids are talking to each other’s. Chelsea puts Hope in the ground and claps her hands.
CHELSEA:
All right! Listen to me! This is what we are going to do…
JOHN:
(Screaming)
Who put you in charge?!
CHELSEA:
Would you please stop bitching all the time? You are old enough to behave like a grown man!
Everyone laugh includes some of John’s friend.
JOHN:
We are in the middle of this, because of your strange little friend! He attacks them!
GOOGLE:
(Puts the bottles on the ground)
That’s not true! We are in the middle of this, because that guy hates you… They eventually were going to attack us. He doesn’t like the relationship that you got with her sister.
Michelle removes her arm from John’s shoulder. John looks at her.
CHELSEA:
Google, just ignore him!
GOOGLE:
All that I do is gain some more time, and I killed that animal. They no longer get electricity.
CHELSEA:
Google, please…
GOOGLE:
Ok…
CHELSEA:
We split up in two groups. The first group is going to do the cocktails… Google is going to lead that group. The second group led it by me, will seek high windows where we can attack them… If you guys (Points John’s friend) want to help us, you are welcome…
David, Daniel and Diana stand up. They nod their heads.
MARIO:
(To Chelsea)
I want to do something.
CHELSEA:
You and your friend are come with me… you know this place.
CUT TO…
We see to Google giving instructions to the kid about how to make the cocktails.
John is still sitting on the same place, but he is alone now.
JOHN:
How a little boy knows how to make Molotov cocktails? Is his father the “Che Guevara”?
CUT TO…
We see Chelsea, Mario and Luigui looking for windows on the third floor of the store.
John’s friends are in the building right in front of the store doing the same thing.
Chelsea sees them through a window and greets them with a wave of her right hand.
CUT TO…
The cocktails are ready. Google and the kids move them to the windows.
David and Daniel build two big slingshots near to the windows.
CHELSEA:
We’re ready!
Everyone applauds.
CUT TO…
INT. OFFICE. NIGHT.
Chelsea is napping on a couch with Hope on her lap. She’s dreaming.
FADE TO…
EXT. HOUSE’S FARMYARD. DAY
Chelsea’s family shares a barbecue in front of their house. Chelsea sees how her mother plays with her little sister. The father is cocking the meal on the grill.
The buzz stars to sound, the earthquake begins, the sky turns into sepia.
This time Chelsea runs to his father and drags him violently to the family car.
Her mother enters to the house with the little girl on her arms.
The Tsunami is approaching. Chelsea enters to her house looking for his mom, but she can’t find her.
