Lust is Easy, Love is Complicated, Page 3

cards were located and pulled a single card out of the wallet.

“Look Noni, I don’t want to put too much on you right now. I just wanted to express to you how I felt. For the last week, you have been the only thing on my mind. So how about this—I’m going to give you my business card with my number on it and I want you to just consider giving me a call whenever you have time—maybe we can meet up for lunch, have coffee, grab dinner, or hey—we do live within 10 miles of each other so maybe go for a jog and just talk on the beach.” Rome said with a big smile on his face as he handed me the business card.

I could not help but to start blushing as I grabbed the card from Rome’s hand.

“I’ll be sure to give you a call. I must admit, I am intrigued by everything about you. However, I am not one of those types of women that can be easily wooed. So this shall be very interesting to see what comes out of this situation,” I said smiling at Rome.

“Just that you are agreeing to call me is a start that I’ll take Noni.” Rome said.

I quickly looked down at my watch, which reminded me that I still had to jog back home and get ready for work.

I had totally lost track of time.

“Well it was nice seeing you Rome. I’ve got to get home and get ready for work but I promise you that I’m going to give you a call as soon as possible.” I said as I touched Rome’s hand, turned around, and started to head back down the boardwalk.

“Hey Noni, one more thing,” Rome screamed.

I slowly turned around smiling, anxious to see what he would say.

  “Yes Rome?” I replied.

“I see you—I see what the world doesn’t.” Rome replied as he waved and continued to jog in the opposite direction.

At that very moment, I knew I had found someone worth not just my time but also my energy. I just had to be more open and not fear the possibility of actually falling in love.
