A Man Caught in Time: A Dark Tale of Fantasy, Page 2

Wayne C. Hannis

In that instant, I saw every alternative before me. At every possible decision my path fractured with a flash of light and I was left standing alone. Suddenly, I was struck by a conduit of electricity and time hesitated. The pain was intense as it locked all my muscles and ever nerve ignited in fire. I couldn't move. The lightning continued through me into my future selves. Every choice before me screamed in agony, as they came rushing backwards. Time continued expanding and I was left behind. The future denied to me.

I woke up suddenly as the rumbling subsided and the shaking of my bed stopped. My consciousness slowly returned as I came out the dark oblivion. I wondered if it was just a dream and for a moment, I wondered who I was.
