Our Voice Volume 7, Page 2

Scot McAtee

Foreword

This volume marks the beginning of a new evolution in our TL Writing Club. Thanks to a generous donation from the TL Education Foundation, agreeable administrators at each of the elementary school buildings and several fantastic teachers who donated their time once a month by helping corral up to more than 80 exuberant K-5 kids after they’ve already spent 8 hours together and getting them interested in storytelling and writing, we’ve been able to create a real presence in each building. Our littlest Indians are thrilling us with their imaginations and we hope to see the growth continue into the middle school and high school as they move up the ladder. Twin Lakes Writing Club is growing and evolving beyond what we envisioned. We have 120 writers in this volume, the biggest ever. Our story is still unfolding; please stay with us as we turn the next page. As always, thank you for your support, dear reader. The kids love to see that people are listening to them and your continued and growing downloads show them they have a voice. – Mr. McAtee and Mrs. Kreiling, 2/17/2015

  By Griffin Mcatee

  5-Roth

Once upon a time there was a mechanical pencil named Jerry, a lion named Gemini lion, and a dragon named Guhfuffy. (He is a small blue.) His gang was at a graveyard in Tuscany at midnight. Then they heard yelling. Geminilion shouted “OH MY WOW, WHAT IS THIS CRAZY RACKET?” Guhfuffy responded, “I HAVE NO IDEA BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE PENCILS!) They all joked about undead pencils and scrumdiddliumptions cupcake vampires. Lightning flashed and they all screamed. It was Bloody!

His gang pushed around 3 screaming pencils, one blue, and the other two orange! Jerry exclaimed, “Bloody let them go!” Bloody replied, “Never!” in one of those creepy British accents “Let’s fight then!” yelled Redpen. “Yeah!” repeated blackpen. And then a fight broke out.

The fight was brutal. When the Twin Pens attacked Guhfuffy Geminilion screeched, “Alpha Omega, Delta, Gamma, SIGMA!” And a neon green laser beam shot out of his mouth and hit the Twin Pens. They exploded! Jerry jumped onto a grave. And Bloody followed. They were going to fight atop the grave still being dug.

They slashed at each other. They knocked with enough force to make a lion retreat! (Not Geminilion though he’s a lot stronger.) Jerry got behind Bloody and shoved Bloody fell, but he grabbed hold of a ledge! He croaked, “Help me,” But Jerry said, “No way!” and stepped on Bloody. Hefell, and the Pencils were safe! Everyone thanked Jerry and celebrated with scrumdiddliumptions cake, everyone was happy!
