  SOAPILEAKS:

This Week’s Hottest News, Gossip, and Reviews!

ALL MY CHILDREN — The Next Kelly Ripa?

  • And the Oscar goes to… Cameron Mathison? Well, not really, but close. The Canadian hunk will be co-hosting ABC’s pre-Oscar special on Feb. 26.

The dynamic duo will be joined by Shira Lazar and Jake Whetter to host OSCARS BACKSTAGE PASS for the Academy's website and digital app. The quad will also cover the red carpet arrivals, backstage buzz at the telecast and after party. In 2008, Mathison and Shepherd co-hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The actor-turned-host tells UNCENSORED that he’s thrilled to be a part of this historic event. “I’m excited,” Mathison enthuses. “Life is good; I’m working lots. I can’t wait to go to my very first Oscars.” Good move on ABC’s part, huh? Maybe, next year, Mathison will be nominated for one!

Meanwhile, THE L.A. TIMES reports that Mathison and wife Vanessa are the proud new owners of a $1.672 million home near the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. The couple told the newspaper that, having moved seven times over the course of a decade, they planned to make this residence a permanent one.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, CBS/CTV — Hail to the Chief!

  • Yes, B&B can! According to DEADLINE.COM, this past Wednesday, President Barack Obama’s motorcade left the Beverly Hilton at 6:14 p.m. and drove to the Holmby Hills estate of executive producer Bradley Bell and his wif
e Colleen, where royal soap couple (and rumoured staunch Republicans) hosted a political fundraiser. On stage, Colleen Bell introduced Obama. Speaking of the president, she said, “He reminds us that change doesn’t come easy or fast.” But change is fast and furious when you’re a character on B&B! Hmmm… maybe Maria Arena Bell got stuck with Rick Santorum!

  • Here we go again: Looks like Rick and Steffy may be reigniting their extinguished love flame. When Rick tries to convince Steffy to sign the annulment papers, so Hope and Liam can live happily ever after until next sweeps, Rick finds himself swapping spit with Steffy! Hopefully, somewhere in between there, Rick and Steffy will remember Phoebe. Hmmm… what will the chemistry be like between Jacob Young and Jackie Wood? Woody, I bet.

  • This should be hilarious: Bill and Katie go on a contentious double date with Brooke and Ridge! Let the best couple win! Knowing B&B, Ridge will end up giving an organ to Katie, and Bill will accidentally fall into Brooke by dessert.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC/GLOBAL — I Kissed A Closeted Boy Last Night! Ejami Exposed!

  • Salem explodes next week! When Will confesses to Sonny he witnessed EJ plowing his mom, Sami, her cuckolded hubby, Rafe, overhears! Whoopsies! Soon, Sami has a lot of explaining to do when Nicole finds out! Across town, at a drinking-game party, Will kisses Neil (played by Kris Kristofferson’s son, Jesse), Sonny’s friend! And Sonny walks in on them and Will finally comes out of the closet Matt Bomer-style.

Afterwards, Will sprints over to Marlena’s house to seek advice before Sami barges in to confront Will for “squealing” on her to Rafe about EJami’s tryst. Oy! Also, look for Bryan Dattilo’s Lucas to return to Salem to help his son, Will, through his coming out. Will Lucas be homophobic? Nope. And Dattilo is thrilled about that development. Dattilo begins airing Feb. 29. Hurray!

As for future Emmy winner, Chandler Massey, pick up this week’s SOAP OPERA DIGEST for an informative interview with the actor – and one helluva handsome photo shoot.

  • Casting happy DAYS is at it again: Looks like the show may be recasting Kim and Shane’s son. Here’s the casting round-up:

[ANDREW] 22 to 26 year old HANDSOME CAUCASIAN MALE. ANDREW is a very sexy handsome man in an untraditional off-centre way. He has a smoldering sexuality that makes women attracted to him and dark sides that make them fear him. He has a charm that disarms and can turn on a dime. You never quite know what he is thinking or
