I may be an imperfect hero but at least I’m not a demon. I hope we’re still in agreement on that. Write me back and let me know.
Faithfully,

Dear Reader
Like most independent authors, I rely on word of mouth for nearly all of my marketing. So, if you liked Kick, please spread the word via Twitter, Facebook and email. Also, drop me an email at [email protected] for information on upcoming books.
And thank you for reading my first novel!
Acknowledgments
When you’re married, your weekends aren’t just your weekends. Your evenings aren’t just your evenings. When I wrote Kick I kept my day job as a systems administrator. So I have my wife to thank, primarily, for putting up with my little hobby for two years even though, statistically, there was no chance of it ever paying off monetarily.
I’d also like to thank my friend Elizabeth for editing it, and my real-life buddy Rob for reading it and giving me advice. He really does pick up the phone and say, “What’s up mang?”
My friend Marc read an early draft on his phone and had lots of helpful observations. Who reads books on their phone...?
Chris was my most critical reader at the time, which is something you need when you’re going to face the wrath of reviewers on the Internet. As if punctuating the point, he took the whole thing and burned it in his fireplace after we finished going over it.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank you, the reader, for lending me your time and your willing suspension of disbelief.
