Mr. Hollywood, Page 26

Lacey Weatherford

“It looks nice. Can you believe all those people came to see us get married? I swear the whole county came out.” I couldn’t believe how many people I’d known from my youth were here.

“It’s because they love you.” Casting a sidelong glance at me, she smiled, and I thought she was the prettiest woman I’d ever seen. “Remember the last time we were up here together?”

“As if I could ever forget. It was one of the best days of my life. Plus, this is where we conceived Dustin. I’m considering asking if it can be made a historical landmark.”

A snort and a giggle escaped her. “Somehow I doubt anyone will grant that request.”

Smiling, I continued to stare at her. “Bet you don’t know I still have your panties from that day.”

“What?” her eyebrows shot up as she looked at me. “Are you serious?”

I nodded. “I stuffed them in my pocket so your dad wouldn’t see them. I took them to LA with me and kept them in the top drawer of my dresser, wrapped up inside a pair of my own.”

She glanced toward our huge new house. “And now?”

“They’re here. In my top drawer.”

“I can’t believe you kept them.”

“They were the only tangible thing I had from that day. I’ll never get rid of them.”

Moving closer, she wrapped her arms around my waist and dragged me farther into the shadows. It was just enough that the glow from the lights of the party below still lit her face subtly, but no one could see us.

“I wondered if I might be able to convince you to make love to me, here—right now.”

I laughed softly. “Do you think you can be quiet enough, or are we planning on putting on a show?”

“Hey, now. I’ve gotten good at being quiet when needed. Having sex with you in the same house my parents are living in for all those months taught me to be discreet.”

“Do you think they ever caught on?” I asked with a grin. “I’m pretty sure your dad would’ve shot me if he knew I was doing you right under his nose.”

“Oh, he knew,” she replied with a smile. “We weren’t that quiet.”

“If that’s true, then I’m surprised I’m still breathing.”

She cupped my face with her hand, and I leaned into it. “He loves you. Buying this farm back and putting everything in his name went a long way toward making things right between the two of you.”

“I’m glad he’s happy about it.” I loved the way she touched me.

  “We all are.”

“So what happens if he catches us up here this time?” I asked, my hand brushing over her hair and across her bare shoulder. From my current vantage point, I could see straight down her strapless dress to the swell of her breasts. I wanted to touch them.

“He’ll just have to suck it up and walk away, because I’m not stopping.” One of her hands slid to the front of my tuxedo pants, rubbing the bulge there, and I pressed into the action.

“You know what I just realized?” I asked, enjoying the sensation.

“What?” She worked at unfastening my pants as I spoke.

“The last time we were here, you were wearing a white dress. I remember how the light shone through the dress and how I was instantly aware of the fact you weren’t wearing a bra. Now here were are, years later, and you’re in a white dress and I’m pretty sure I can’t see a bra.” Lifting my hand, I tweaked one of her nipples through the fabric and she briefly closed her eyes and bit her lip.

  “I like that.”

“So do I.” I kissed the top of her head.

“It’s not exactly the same, though.”

  “How so?”

“This time I’m not wearing any panties either.”

My mouth went dry. “You aren’t?” I swallowed thickly.

“Nope. This gown showed panty lines. I couldn’t have that.” Opening my fly, she slipped her hand inside my cotton boxers, wrapping her fingers around my pulsating cock and stroking.

“Yeah, that would be bad.” Reaching for the shelf behind me, I grabbed one of the blankets and let it fall open before tossing it on the hay behind her. I didn’t care if it was straight.

Hands returning to her, I started gathering her silky dress, and lifted it over her head. Dropping it to the floor, I stared at her perfect naked body—her perfect naked body I couldn’t seem to ever get enough of. But damn. I wasn’t complaining!

Shrugging out of my jacket, I dropped it next to her dress and reached for the buttons on my shirt. As soon as I was as naked as she was, I picked her up and laid her back on the blanket.

“You’re so beautiful,” I whispered, kissing my way down her body in the dim light. “I can’t believe how lucky I am.”

“I’m the lucky one,” she replied with a smile. Spreading her legs, she guided me inside her, just like the first time.

Fuck. She felt so good and I was so hot as I sheathed myself fully inside her. Kneeling, I stared, loving the way our bodies always looked when we were joined together. It was one of my favorite things.

Leaning over her, I smiled and winked. “Think we’ll make a baby this time, too?”

A slight laugh escaped her. “No.”

I shrugged. “Maybe someday we’ll come up here and make Dustin a sibling,” I teased. “Would you like that?”

Her fingers came up and traced my lips. I kissed them gently, still refusing to move yet. I just wanted to enjoy this moment as long as possible.

  “Zane?”

“Aubrey?” I replied in the same fashion, kissing her again.

  “I’m already pregnant.”

Shock went through me and I jerked my head back so I could stare into her eyes. “Are you serious?”

Smiling, she nodded. “I took a test this morning. I’ve suspected but I didn’t want to know for sure until today.” Tears flooded her eyes.

  “But you’re on the pill.”

“I missed a day. Sorry.” She didn’t look one bit sorry, in fact I wondered how I’d missed it. She was positively glowing.

Joy flooded me in a way I could never imagine. And my hand drifted to her flat stomach. “A baby,” I breathed out. “I can’t believe it.”

“Are you happy about it?” Her eyes searched mine.

“If I were any happier, I’d die from it,” I said, bending to capture her lips in an overjoyed kiss, and she wrapped her arms and legs tightly around me. I laughed, my heart feeling so full in this moment that all the trauma of the past seemed to melt completely away. “I love you, Mrs. McCartney.”

“I love you, Mr. McCartney. Now get moving.”

  “Yes ma’am,” I replied.

Slowly, I made love to my wife for the very first time, in the same place where everything had begun.

  Life had come full circle.

Finally, I had everything I’d dreamed about and so much more.

I couldn’t wait to live the rest of our lives together.

  Acknowledgements

Aside from thanking all the amazing readers who purchased this book, I have so many wonderful people to thank for helping out with this project!

First, I’d like to thank my best friend, Belinda Boring, and my daughter, Kamery Solomon. Both are my business partners in the Queens of Romance and I love having them to constantly bounce ideas off of. Their feedback is always so helpful! Thank you both for your constant help, love, and support in my life. You are incredible! Also, a special thanks to Kamery for formatting the books. They look great!

I’d also like to thank my husband, James. I dedicated this particular book to him because he also helped me with ideas, some which were very crucial to the telling of this story. Not only that, but with every book I write, he keeps the house running and makes sure none of us starve while I’m pounding away on my computer. He’s also the one who rubs my shoulders and gives me pep talks when I need them. He keeps me going.
He’s the machine behind everything I do. James, I appreciate and love you so much.

A special shout out goes to my beta readers in the Lacey Weatherford’s Book Café. I won’t name them all because I’m always afraid I’ll miss someone, but they know who they are. They helped to proofread and give feedback on the final manuscript. It’s always nice to have those extra sets of eyes to catch things. I sure love everyone in that group! To all the ladies in there, your friendships have been priceless to me!

Major hugs and love go out to my super awesome editor for this book, Ellie McLove. This was our first editing venture together and I loved that it was a painless one! I, too, hope this is the beginning of a long, happy relationship! You are amazing!

And last, but most certainly not least, thank you to my wonderful, handsome, cover model, Jase Dean. Covers help sell books and you look beautiful on mine. But as I said to you before, the true bonus for me is that you are just as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world!

  Lots of love, Lacey
