About the Story: From The Sky
I dreamed this complete and woke up with it in my head. I scribbled it down that afternoon waiting for my kids in the carpool line. It remains almost unchanged from that first, longhand draft.
The quad described looks a lot like the quad from my high school, and the people that inhabit it seem like ghosts of people that I knew back then. I guess that’s often the way it is with dreams, they take the familiar and knit it into new shapes, new images, and leave us with little packages to be opened and explored. Sometimes, often for me it seems, those packages hold a nasty surprise.
