  Chapter 16

  As the weather began to warm spring break begin to come closer and closer….. “When is Sophie coming?” I yelled from upstairs. “She said they would be coming at 5:00pm but be patient the traffic’s bad here.” And we smile. DING DONG…… “Mel and Alex’s here” I yelled and rushed down to open the door. “Hi. There not here yet” I said. “Well be patient the traffic’s bad.” Mel said. “Jeez Mel were you eavesdropping because you totally repeated exactly what my mom said!” I said and we laugh. “So what kind of tree did you buy?” Alex asked. “We brought a Canadian maple tree!” I say. “Well you’re a Canada lover!” Mel said laughing. DING DONG……. “She’s here!” I yelled to my mom and rushed to get the door. My aunt was about 30 and looked pretty young. She had dark brown eyes and hair. “Hi Alexa you can call me Sophie and my kids Emma and Emily.” She said introducing them to me right away pointing to a six year old and a four or five year old. “Hi well I’m Alexa but everyone calls me Lexi so any name is good.” I say. “This is my best friend Mel” I say pointing at Mel but unsure of Alex. “Um this is Alex he saved me from scissors stabbing my forehead.” And we all smile at my chose of words. “This is my mom” I say pointing at her. “You can call me Elizabeth.” My mom says smiling. “Well I just want to start by saying thanks for saving me and my children from the curse. Sadly my husband couldn’t come here because of his work but we can chat with him online.” Sophie said gratefully. “Well we have two extra rooms so I guess the children first and then you in the other.” My mom asked. That would be great. We all ate dinner and Mel and Alex went home. “Bye guys see you tomorrow at 5:00 pm and Mel the 6 dollars.” I said. “Bye” Mel and Alex say.

  Epilogue

  As 5:00 pm came we all went outside. We all dug a hole and planted it. When we piled the dirt back Sophie started to cry. “Mommy are you all right?” Emma asks sweetly. We all took turns watering the maple and went inside. Once we finished dinner we all went to the park to look at the stars. We take turns telling Sophie about what happened that day and silence takes over us. “Do you guys want to sing the devil in the blue dress?” Mel asked breaking the silence. “Sure” we all took turns saying. “Well I made copies for everyone yesterday at home.” She said handing them out and we start to sing and glaze at the stars…….
