Crush: My Nextdoor Crush - part 1, Page 2

Electra Rossello

  Chapter Two

“Knock, knock. Anyone home?” Pip says from the other side of the door, she doesn’t even knock she just walks in like she owns the place. Turning my iPod down as she takes a seat at the end of my bed.

“He really is something.” Pip says with lust full eyes, she really needs to find someone else to focus her attention on. Someone that would return her the attention that she gives my brother but then who am I to talk, I have been running after the same guy for years. We really are sad, maybe we both need to get out there and find someone else.

“Please Pip, he is my brother, keep the loved up expression to a minimum.”

“Okay so what happened with you, you don’t seem sick?” Great maybe I should have just let her keep talking about Eric so I wouldn’t have to answer any of her questions about me.

“Where is everyone?” Not answering her question and making her answer one of mine.

“Well if you are asking where Alex and Eric are, they are outside kicking the ball around because that is all they seem to do.” She really hates when that soccer ball comes between her and Eric. Getting off my bed and walking to my window that looks into the backyard and also towards the Hamilton’s house next door. Looking over to the two of them playing soccer it is just like when we were little and I use to play with them and they would try and keep the ball away from me, turning away from the window and back to Pip, smiling at the past and how I changed it and stuffed it all up. Looking back out the window one last time before I going back to sit on my bed, Eric is still kicking the ball but Alex is looking up at me. My heart starts beating fast as I look at him, I need my body to stop reacting to him like this, and nothing can or ever will happen between us. I can’t look at him anymore, I need to move on. So why does it hurt when I turn away from him.

“So how was dinner?” I ask Pip as I take a seat next to her, I bit my lip because really I don’t want to know but I have to say something to her and that is all that came to my mind.

“Fine I guess. Your dad started telling this weird joke that I just didn’t get and Charlie had water coming out of his nose so I guess it was funny. Really I have no idea.” Laughing at how it would have been funnier to watch Charlie squirt water out of his nose than listening to one of dad’s bad jokes.

“Yeah it might be funny now but if you stayed you would have been sprayed by him.” Both of us start laughing then, Pip almost falling off the bed. I’m so glad I went upstairs then, it was easy talking to Pip, but I just can’t open my mouth and talk about Alex to her and I don’t know why.

I don’t know how long we just talked about nothing in particular, we just sat on my bed listening to music and talking about what we wanted to do this summer when school let out in two weeks’ time. One of those weeks I had soccer camp but after that we have the whole summer to do whatever we want. The beach, the pool, the theme park, it doesn’t matter because it would be fun and away from school and away from people like Grace Lexis.

“I should go; my mum wants me home soon. She thinks I spend too much time here than at my own house but I said because you aren’t there and also Eric but I didn’t say that part.” I smile at her, Pip’s mum was great but I could see how she missed her daughter because she was always here. Even if her mum has other children, she misses Pip. Even if Pip doesn’t see it.

“Do you need a lift home?” Looking over to the door and seeing Eric just standing there. He doesn’t even knock and now he wants to take my friend home, I just don’t get him.

“Eric…” As I start to say something Pip interrupts me.

  “Yes, that would be great.”

  ‘Well bye, I guess.”

“Don’t be a sour face Lily.” Eric says with a smile on his face, like he has won a prize against me. Grabbing one of the pillows behind me and throwing it at him, but he moves and it hits Alex straight in the face. Crap.

“I’m so sorry Alex. Eric why did you move?” Eric doesn’t even answer and walks down the hall with Pip running after him. I will get him back, something in his bed maybe?

“I’m guessing this is yours?” Looking back away from Eric’s disappearing shadow and towards Alex. Feeling my cheeks heat up I walk over to him and take the pillow out of his hand.

“Thank you and I’m sorry it was meant for my idiot brother.” Walking over to my bed and placing the pillow down like it is the most precious thing I have so I wouldn’t have to talk or even look at Alex.

“Lil… I was wondering if we could talk.” I knew this would come up, turning around to face him and he has his hands in his hair, he only does that when he is upset or frustrated, I love when he does that. His shirt slowly sneaks up and I can see that he still has his six pack and it looks better than ever. I have to stop thinking about him.

“Look Alex, there is nothing to talk about, we are just next door neighbours and you are my brother’s best friend that’s all there is.” God that was hard to say, his eyes look sad but I could be wrong.

“Let’s just forget everything and go back to how it was, okay.” I say to him, even though I don’t know if I can.

“Sure.” And as he says that he moves towards me and wraps his arms around me. I nestle my head on his chest and breathe him in, he still smiles great and it makes my mind hazy. Looking up into his eyes and then to his lips how I have missed him, does he miss me as much as I miss him. He moves his lips over mine and just leaves them there, waiting for me to make up my mind. Licking my lips and touching his, I can’t hold back I pull him down to me and he captures my lips just like on New Year’s. Wait what am I doing, he hurt me and I said that I would never do this again. I move my tongue into his mouth and he does the same. He closes the door behind us and moves me towards the bed. Falling down with him on top of me, moving my hands over his back and grabbing the ends of his shirt and pulling it over his head. Throwing the shirt on the ground and letting my hands touch his bare chest that I have been dying to touch. His hands start to explore me and his mouth starts to move away from mine and then moves down my neck, god I love the feel of him on me. Enjoying the moment of him and me, I could only imagine this in my dreams but then his phone goes off and I know it is not a dream it is the best reality ever. He pulls the phone out of his jean pocket as gives me a small grunt that he is not happy for the interruption. As he answers the phone I start to kiss his neck and move towards his chest.

“Hey baby, what are you up to? How was the ride home?” The voice on the other end says. I stop what I’m doing and look up to Alex. He quickly pushes the end button but it is too late I heard her. Pushing myself away from him.

“I’m sorry Lil. It’s not what you think.” Taking a deep breath and picking up his shirt and passing it to him.

“It doesn’t matter, this was nothing.”

“Lil, please.” I want to listen to why she called him and said those things but I don’t want to know I just want to be left alone.

“Please Alex, just leave.” I walk over to the door and hold it open for him, I don’t even look at him as he leaves my room and then I slam the door behind him. I’m too angry to care if my parents heard. I did it again and this dream just turned into a nightmare.

Even if I don’t want to know the reason, why was Grace Lexis calling Alex?

  Chapter Three

Waking up from a bad night, I don’t even remember when I fell asleep and really I don’t even want to get up. Walking down to the kitchen to grab a nice hot cup of coffee, as I get to the last two steps towards the kitchen I can hear my parents and the Hamilton’s talking.

“Charlie she will be very disappointed.” Are they talking about me, going down the last two steps and pressing myself up against the wall to try and hear what else they are saying.

“She’ll be fine, Lily is a champion.” Great they really were talking about me.

Walking into the kitchen like I didn’t hear anything and just going to get my morning cup of coffee.

“Hey Sweetheart.” Mum says as s
he walks towards me and gives me a big hug. I was right everyone was here and all I was wearing was my cupcake pyjama pants and a singlet.

“Hey mum.” She lets go of me and I walk over to the coffee machine that is near the sink.

“You know kiddo, you really should drink that?” Charlie says, as a take a big sip of my hot delicious cup of coffee and give him my best smile.

“Morning to you to Charlie. So what are you guys up to?” Taking a seat at the kitchen island that faces all of them. Everyone starts to look over to Charlie, telling him to tell me whatever is going. Charlie walks over to me and gives me a big hug, this can’t be good. Am I off the team, is there no camp what is going on.

  “Well…”

“Please Charlie just say it.” I wasn’t going to say I can handle it because whatever it was I knew that I wasn’t.

“Okay then… I won’t be your coach this summer, someone else will be taking over.” That I didn’t expect.

“What? Why?” Nothing really coming out of my mouth, I have no idea what to say to that.

“It’s my back kid, I have to go into surgery and I won’t be able to train the team. There will be a replacement.”

“Charlie are you okay? I don’t have to train this summer I can stay with you.” I don’t need that much training; I just want to make sure that he is okay.

“Don’t you use me as an excuse? The person that will be taking over is one of the best.” I get up off my seat and stand in front of him, trying to find out if he really is okay.

“Charlie I don’t care about soccer. I care about you, are you really going to be okay?”

“I’ll be fine, just be nice to the new coach.”

“So who is this new coach then?” I say with a half a smile, I don’t really care.

  “Alexander Hamilton.”

  “Great.”

Crap after everything I’m going to be stuck with him for a whole summer, what am I going to do?
