Sheila The Frightened Little Beagle, Page 2

Debra Eliassen

Snuggles, being the kind, mannerly dog that he was, took a moment to say good-bye to both Kinder and me. Then he ran back over to his daddy and practically jumped into his arms.

As he went out the door, Kinder and I both started to cry. We ran to the window and watched as Snuggles got into the car and road off. We whimpered, whined, and howled on this very sad day.

I realized that although we all learned a lot, Snuggles taught me the most important lesson of all. He taught me to stop being afraid of things I didn’t know anything about. I know that there are times I should be afraid, of course. But I shouldn’t judge another dog before I get to know him. And who knows, maybe even The Cat’s not so bad.

I hope we get to see Snuggles again some day. But I guess it’s OK if we don’t. He’s finally with his daddy and he’s very happy. And Kinder and I still have each other, so we’re very happy too.
