Bubbles The Tractor and Chums 'Bubbles' Best Performance', Page 2

D Rossmaur

'Wow boy! Settle down now, settle down,' said Stanley.

The little tractor was so excited that he filled the air with a cloud of pink bubbles. When he finally calmed down and stood still for a moment, the judges awarded Bubbles with the winner's cup along with a rosette. Larry started to laugh, this time at the pretty winner's rosette hanging around Bubbles windscreen, but only until Look Out pointed to a rather attractive rosette that had been pinned to his bottom, when he hadn't been looking. This was an award for the most unusually restored vehicle at the fair! Even Larry could see the funny side and laughed with his friends.

During all the celebrations, Goliath had been loaded onto his owner's truck and was about to leave the showground. But before he disappeared and in spite of his defeat, Goliath looked back at Bubbles and gave him one last fearsome glare.

‘What a terrible looser,’ said Larry as he came over to congratulate Bubbles.

'I don't think it’s the last we’ll see of those two trouble makers,' said Bubbles.

'You’re right laddie and we best be on our guard,' Larry replied.

  Chapter Six

It was time for them to be heading home and Stanley loaded the triumphant trio onto the back of Troy's trailer. They laughed about the day’s events before falling fast asleep, as they were exhausted.

June was waiting to greet them at the farm entrance with a big kiss. She was very proud of Stanley and his clever machines. Even Eddie got a kiss on the cheek. Stanley drove Bubbles and the others into the barn, while they were still half asleep and said goodnight.

‘I am very proud of you all,’ said Stanley as he closed the barn door.

‘Thank you for your help Eddie and you to Troy,’ said Stanley as they were getting ready to leave the farm.

  ‘My pleasure Stanley,’ Eddie replied.

The next morning a mysterious package arrived in the post addressed to Look Out Below. She opened it up and found a DVD inside with the words ‘Summer Fair’ written across it. It was from the cameraman, who just wanted to show his appreciation for her life-saving catch. He also sent her a beautiful bunch of flowers, which made Bubbles feel a little jealous.

June put the flowers in a vase then settled down in the lounge with Stanley to watch the DVD. She had baked a delicious chocolate cake to celebrate this special occasion and they managed to eat most of it all during the film. Bubbles and his chums watched secretly through the kitchen window licking their lips. Although they did not get a piece of cake, they were still very happy that Stanley's big day had turned out to be such a special one.

Finally the sun set on another happy day down at Messybrook Farm and Bubbles released a cloud of delightful bubbles, which popped like fireworks over the peaceful farmyard. Upsetting the chickens all over again!
