Angels
Mary, Linda, Teresa and Vicki are four friends that decided to take a Hawaiian vacation together. On the way to the airport they were killed in a car accident. Heaven welcomed them as angels, but decided to keep them together as a group, and let them retain some of their mortal thoughts in addition to their angel thoughts. The premise of this decision was that angels that could still think like mortals would have an advantage in helping mortals do good.
The flaw in this premise is that mortal thinking isn’t always ‘angelic’. Heaven assigned angel trainers to the gals that would appear familiar and likeable. One angel trainer looks and acts like Betty White, and the other, Ellen DeGeneres. Heaven also has developed a number of tools available to the angels to assist them in their assignments. Vicki’s daughter, Kim, was given the ability to see and communicate with the gals. This assists greatly in communicating with mortals in need of their services, but unaware the angels exist.
Betty primarily assists the gals when further training is required. Ellen, being more energetic, directly assists in assignments and serves to direct the gals in an efficient order.
Shallow End Gals

The staff at the bar gave us the nickname, ‘The Shallow End Gals.’ This stems from our choice to always sit at the short ‘L’ of the bar at lunch time. We think the name refers to the fact that there are fewer stools at this end. The full group meets two or three times a week. The conversations often resemble some bizarre internet search engine. The facts that some of us don’t hear as well as we used to, and I have my own language called ‘Vicki Speak’, are contributors to this phenomenon. After several people suggested we should write a book, or seek professional help, we decided to try the former. We hope readers will enjoy spending a little time with us and we welcome you to the Shallow End.
