Acknowledgements
Thanks to my reader Janina Klinck for her considerate companionship on my first steps as an author, and to my illustrator Petra Rudolf for her enchanting work in transforming my crude guidelines into a breath-taking cover. Without them, the Paladin volumes would not be what they are.
And of course to Tim Casey and Neil Mc Court, who laboured hard to bring the english version of this story to life.
