  “Tellin’ me that you love me and shit,” Desirae added. “Tellin’ me that you gon’ leave her and come be with me and shit. I can’t fuckin’ believe that I fell for that shit.”

  “And here my ass is,” Shawna said. “Throwing your ass parties and stuff while you going over to her place and spending the night.” Shawna got Tron in his head, causing him to let go of his towel to grip his own head. “And I can’t believe that for one second, I actually thought about getting back with your lyin’ ass.”

  Tron, now in full retreat mode and naked, was turned around and facing toward the bedroom door. This did not stop Shawna and Desirae, however. Between curse words and throwing punches, they continued pushing Tron further and further back until he eventually was all the way out into the upstairs hallway. Before he knew it, he was tumbling down the steps at what seemed like a mile a minute. When he landed at the bottom, hitting his head several times on the way down, he looked up at Desirae and Shawna at the top of the steps. They both looked down at him, with cold eyes, and shaking their head.

  “Look at him, girl,” Desirae said.

  “Girl, I know it,” Shawna said. “Just sad… fuckin’ sad. Can’t believe a word that come out of his mouth.”

  “Look, I…” Tron started to say. By now, however, it was too late. Shawna and Desirae had already made their way down the steps. The two of them were just as mad as they had been when they first got there. Tron, still in fleeing mode, jumped up and hurried into the living room. Shawna and Desirae, now feeling a little tired from everything that had happened last night, overnight, and upstairs, shook their heads as they walked toward him, eventually stopping when they watched his naked, bruised and scratched up body, standing in the middle of the living room floor.

  “I fuckin’ hate you,” Shawna said. “You real lucky I don’t wanna go to jail again, or else I just might cut that damn dick off for all this shit you done put me through.”

  “Girl, go right ahead,” Desirae said, not even realizing that she was rubbing her stomach while she looked at Tron’s cowering, naked body. “I promise, I won’t tell a damn soul, girl. It ain’t like the world would hear me anyway. After all, I am just a side chick, ain’t I?”
