“Yes, I’m quite proud of this one.”
Suddenly, we hear, “Ho, Ho, Ho, make way for Santa.”
The office stares in surprise as surely the hottest Santa in the world, drags a huge sack of stuff into the office and every girl’s mouth drops open, mine included. Unlike Robert Stammers, this Santa is the stuff that puts women on the naughty list quicker than they can drop their panties, and this year he’s all mine.
Oliver’s costume leaves nothing to the imagination, because his red and white coat barely covers his broad ripped chest that is out on full display. His red trousers fall low on his hips and I swallow hard when I see he is definitely commando right now.
Stacey gasps beside me and says in a slightly shocked voice, “You’re one fucking lucky lady.”
Oliver winks across the room at me and his hat slips to a jaunty angle as he starts distributing the usual corporate gifts to several outstretched, willing hands.
Leaning back against the desk, I just stare at the man who has not stopped rocking my world since we met.
Everyone knows we’re together, and not just because I’m wearing the biggest diamond on my finger. It’s because he makes it impossible to hide the fact as he’s always seeking me out and dropping by my desk most days. I spend more time in his office than my own, and if we grab some lunch, it’s always together.
Grady got over his disappointment and moved on to the receptionist, Emily and I believe they’ve been dating for a few months now.
Despite our unprofessional behavior, we work so hard we sometimes don’t return home until midnight and fall into bed just craving sleep. I moved in with Oliver exactly one week later and we have never looked back. My parents adore him and I get on so well with his, I don’t know what I was worrying about.
By the time his sack is empty, he saunters over and leans in whispering, “Now, about that tequila contest.”
I laugh as I point to the shot glasses Gareth has already set up, but this time there are three participants.
To the chorus of chants from the entire office who made it to the party this year, we down our shots in rapid succession. As the final one hits the deck, I look around in triumph, wiping the back of my mouth and sing,
♫I am the champion ♫
Then I dance on the spot and gloat as Oliver and Gareth laugh at their own failure.
Then the music ramps up and this time I dance with my future husband as the rest go wild around us and I whisper, “Thank you, it means a lot.”
Oliver was so mortified that not one single member of his family had ever mixed with his employees on Christmas, he made it his mission to break the trend. However, he appears to be keen to move on and whispers, “Now about my Christmas gram, what do you say, meet me in ten minutes?”
I wink and laugh as he heads off, shouting his goodbyes as he goes and Stacey comes across and says, “If I told you not to do anything I wouldn’t do, would you listen?”
“Not a chance.”
