“No that’s your money,” he said quickly. “I’ll send you some of it every month like you said.”
“You can use the money, but just promise me one thing,” Angela said looking Detective Washington in the eye.
“Anything.”
“Promise me that you’ll find Ashley and look after her. Use some of that money to give her a better life,” Angela said. “Show her the right way to live.”
“I promise! I got you,” Detective Washington said as he stood up and kissed Angela on the lips just as the officers ran up in the room and escorted Angela back to her cell.
Detective Washington stood there and watched how roughly the officers handled Angela. Deep down inside he wished that he could have helped Angela escape from the mansion somehow before she got arrested. Right now he was the only person that Angela had in her corner and he promised not to let her down. The first thing tomorrow morning he planned on hitting the pavement and searching for Ashley. He knew he had to find her before something bad happened to her.
