The communicator went dead.
Wren tried not to think too much about the political implications of her work. The Guild would have thought about it, they'd have reasons for agreeing to the jobs. They weren't cowed by Imperium posturing, so there would be a logical explanation. It wasn't Wren's place to question or wonder, she just had to do the job she was given.
Her communicator beeped to signify it had received the files.
Wren opened the message and froze. The communicator fell from her stiff fingers and clattered to the floor, screen up.
Wren stared at the image of the target, mouth partly open.
The image was grainy, but there could be no mistaking the hard jaw and steely eyes.

Doctor Saffron Bryant was born on the 17th December 1990 in a small town in North Queensland, Australia. She has been interested in fantasy and science fiction from a very young age, writing her first story at the age of seven. She has always been fascinated by fantasy stories and has a passion for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
After an unpleasant encounter with a brain tumour, Saffron turned to writing as a creative outlet and has since published more than twenty books.
