“Oh. My. God,” my voice narrowed, matching the glare locked on him. “You think I’m gonna fall, madly, instantly in love with you? Doodle your name on any and every piece of paper I can find? Make a run to the store, in between stalking you and forgetting to take my birth control pill of course, to buy a baby name book? Ego much? And, stop that!” I swat his hand away from my cheek, his traitorous touch no longer welcome.
“I will not.” He reaches right back up again, this time cupping my entire cheek in his huge, warm palm, demanding I look at him. “Not one of the silly things you just listed, or anything of the sort, even crossed my mind. Because, I also know, you’re a woman of great pride. So great, you’d silently resign before ever risking what you consider to be humiliation, desperation, or self-degradation. What I do think, Gracie, is that if we don’t get a few things cleared up first, as in right now, you will end up getting hurt. And that, I’m not willing to risk.”
Chapter Three
Brewer
She’s gawking at me as if I’ve lost my damn mind.
She might be on to something.
We’re in my bed, together, both naked… and I pumped the brakes on her hand pumping my cock, while the tip was in her mouth, because…
Yeah, she’s definitely on to something. I’ve obviously lost my damn mind.
“Crude song or not, I am so much better at setting the mood than you,” she laughs. “I thought men were incapable of thought in these types of situations. You continue to surprise me, Brewer Hayes. Congratulations.”
I scrub both hands over my face and give my head a hard, fast jerk, in desperate need of a fucking reset button. “Let me try this again,” I growl, rolling over and tucking her hot little body underneath mine all in one move. “This. Is. Happening. All damn night. Weekend. Week. However long you’re here. I haven’t changed my mind about that, and neither have you. But, you are gonna put away your preconceived notions and just go with the flow. Alright?”
“Uh huh, yep, whatever you say. Now, why don’t you run that mouth of yours… in other places?”
Good plan. Hoisting her arms over her head and pinning them there, I lean in to kiss up the silky smooth column of her throat. “Quit worrying, baby girl. Your brain, and all those thoughts rolling around it, will shut off the second I’m inside you.”
“Promise?” Her confession’s a vulnerable exhale.
“Promise.” Trapping both wrists with one hand, I slink my other down her stomach and in between her legs. “Please tell me you’re covered, ‘cause I’ll give every last dime I have to any charity you want if I don’t have to be.”
Her eyes double in size and fly to mine, a bewitching battle of fear and desire therein, as she mulls over my words… and tilts her pelvis up to invite my fingers further inside.
“I am,” little moan, “and you,” groan, “athlete, physical, ahhh, Brewer…”
“Right there, huh? Answer me, Gracie, about being covered,” I clarify with a laugh, “and I’ll make it even better,” I grunt to beg in her ear, nipping the lobe.
“Yeah, yes, okay, but-”
“I’ve got you, baby. No more thinking.”
