With a shaky hand, I slipped the three-carat diamond on her finger and waited for an answer. When she dropped to her knees and threw her arms around my neck, the crowd cheered. When she screamed, “Yes!” my heart soared. And when she pushed me to the ground and stretched out on top of me… Let’s just say a certain body part was very happy. But we had an audience, so I couldn’t do anything about it.
“What do you say we get out of here?” I whispered in her ear.
She batted her lashes and played coy. “Why, Mr. Hawkins, are you suggesting what I think you’re suggesting?”
“You bet your sexy little ass I am.”
She hopped on my back and giggled in my ear. “Lead the way, my soon-to-be husband.”
I’d made it about twenty feet before I stopped and peered over my shoulder. “Hey, Tiny?”
She rested her chin on my shoulder and gazed dreamily into my eyes. “Yeah, Sparky?”
“I fucking love you.”
She waited a beat before answering, smiling so broadly I thought my heart might burst with anticipation. “Ditto.”
