Jackson settles between my legs and wraps his arms around me. "Only one way to find out," he replies, brushing his lips against the sweet spot on my neck.
"I think you're more interested in making a baby than having one," I tease.
Pulling back, Jackson places his hands on either side of my face and stares me straight in the eyes. "Nothing in this world would make me happier than growing our family. The fun part is making the baby, of course. The rewarding part is raising him or her. With you. With Alex. I'm on board, babe. For all of it."
Smiling, my heart soars. His words are exactly what I needed to hear.
It's hard for me to remember my life before Jackson. Not because of the tumor, or memory loss. It's hard for me to remember a time when I wasn't as happy as I am in this moment because I've blocked it all out. I don't want to think about my life before him, I want to focus on our future together. The future we'll have with Alex and our new child.
Lucky doesn't even begin to cover how I feel every morning when I wake up. I'm grateful that I get to wake up at all. I'm thankful that I have an amazing husband and son who love and cherish me. I'm amazed at how much my luck has changed over the last few years.
It all started with a rash decision to quit my job and live the rest of my life the way I wanted. I was dying. But somewhere along the line, things changed. My life because less about dying and more about loving and living thanks to Jackson. I fought harder and ultimately won the battle.
My reward for chasing fate... him.
