Postscript
On 22 July 1227, a Danish army led by King Valdemar was destroyed by Count Henry and his allies at the Battle of Bornhöved in northern Germany. The king was lucky to escape with his life. Thereafter Danish power in the Baltic was irrecoverably weakened.
