My heart erupts as I cling to my husband. I may not believe in fairy tales like I used to, but he has a way of building one just the same.
“I know her name,” he says into my hair. He plants a kiss on my cheek before he pulls back to look at my face. “I want to name her after you. I think she should be Sarah.”
It might be the hormones. It might be because he’s the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me, but I can’t stop the tears.
“How’d I ever get so lucky?” I ask him.
“You wish on a star?
“Nope.”
“Kiss a frog?”
“Not literally.”
He’s laughing now because he understands completely.
“Maybe you have a fairy godmother.”
“I’d like to meet her,” I say.
“Me too,” Zane says. “When she granted your wish, she gave me everything I ever wanted.”
“And what was that?”
“A family that loves me,” Zane says. “I mean the career and mind-blowing success doesn’t hurt,” he flinches as I smack his arm. “but the family that loves me is the best part.”
I sigh because he can’t leave a beautiful moment alone. But that’s what makes this our perfect happy ending, the fact that it’s ours and it never ends. Because who would want a love story this good to ever finish?
The End
