As the shooting ceased, one droid crouched beside the sodden body and checked the pulse. Satisfied, the droid stood up, gesturing sharply. Its head tilted, the droid listened intently.
‘They’re coming,’ it snapped. The voice was flat, lacking inflection, and had a metallic edge to it.
The strike team fell back into the shadows, where they reloaded their weapons and waited.
