“Come on. You’re supposed to be outside,” Pixie smiled up at me, using her hip to try and move me towards our French doors.
“Let’s go then,” I said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
We stepped out back and I guided her to the patio table Blue and Arlen were sitting at.
“I’m going to supervise.” I nodded my head to where Grimm and Cobra were standing by a grill. The smell of deer meat was already wafting in the summer air.
“Course you are,” she laughed, stretching up to kiss me.
I tangled my hand in her hair, forcing my tongue into her mouth, nipping her lower lip. Her soft moan had me ready to drag her ass back in the house and bend her over the counter.
We’d had years together, and it never got old. She still made me feel more alive than I ever had before.
“Ya’ll are such show-offs,” Arlen joked.
“Are you ladies jealous?” I pulled away from Cali and smirked.
“So jealous,” Blue laughed.
“Can we have our friend now?” Arlen groaned.
“Just for a little.” I pulled a chair out and gently pushed Cali into it before making my way to the grill.
“Was wondering when your ass was gonna show up,” Grimm said, flipping a piece of meat.
“Do you know what you’re doing?” I ignored him, directing my question to Cobra.
“I got this,” he said determinedly, peeling way too much of the shell off a boiled egg.
I shook my head, deciding to let him do it his way.
“We did well,” Grimm said after a few minutes of silence, his gaze trained on the backyard.
“Fuck yeah, we did,” Cobra grinned.
I slowly looked around me, taking everything in.
At the edge of the property, a few new acolyte recruits were readying the pit for the evening’s festivities with Bryce making sure they didn’t fuck it up.
Adelaide, who was seven going on fucking twenty, sat at a round picnic table with Grimm and Arlen’s daughter, Nyx, both fully immersed in their game of Go Fish. Annie watched over them, pretending to keep score.
I could hear her brother, Lucien, from up in his tree house with Camren and Braxton, Cobra’s twins.
Turning my head back to the patio, my eyes found the pair of beautiful blue ones that had started it all.
“I couldn’t agree more,” I finally responded.
Life was fucking grand.
We still had hard days and colder nights, but being together made it all the more bearable.
This is where our story ended.
But the next generation was just getting started.
And they were a whole new breed of Savages.
