When I read fantasy novels I don’t like getting tripped up on the names. I tried to pick names for my demons and fae that weren’t human looking, but also easily recognizable and pronounceable. Below is a list of phonetic spellings in case I failed.
The Fae:
Xandrie/Xan/Xandrine* - Zan-dree, Zan, Zan-dreen
Casimir- KAZ-i-meer - Polish and Slavic - destroyer of peace
Hadassah- Hu-DAH-suh - Hebrew - myrtle tree
Radburn- RAHD-bern - English - surname meaning reedy stream
Eudora- Ya-DOR-uh - I don’t know where this came from. I may have had a roommate at one point who’s middle name was something like this. Maybe.
Sidhe- Shee - Gaelic - a mound or hill in which fairies live
The Demons:
Plialor- PLEE-uh-lore - I may have seen a variant of this in a fantasy name generator and changed the spelling to make it more readable
Naamaris- Na-MAR-is - This came directly from my brain
* Xandrie and all variants thereof is not a name I came up with or found on a name site. Xandrie is the name of an author in a group I’m in who’s name is so fantastic, many MANY other authors have used her name in their works. The convention among the authors is to kill off the Xandrie character, however I like my Xan too much to ever kill her. Probably.
