Keltie pulled the car over, screeching the tires.

      Grayson held onto the seat.

“Hey, I didn't mean to offend—”

Keltie grabbed him by the cheeks and brought him in.

      They kissed.

Long, glorious. Her lips were soft, tasted of flowers and fruit-flavored candy.

He grabbed her and caressed her hair as they kissed.

They parted, and she rested her forehead on his.

“I've been waiting a long time to do that,” she said.

“Well, what took you so long?” Grayson asked.

“Never fall in love after a traumatic event,” Keltie said. “That's not real love.”

“So everything we've been through is a traumatic event?” Grayson asked.

“I just needed time. After all I've—”

Grayson thought of Claire. He nodded and hushed her. “I get it. You don't have to explain.”

“That's what I love about you,” she said. “I don't have to explain myself. And after this was all over, I waited, thinking that what we had was just because of the stress. But it didn't go away. My feelings…only grew stronger.”

“Told ya,” Grayson said. “All roads lead to yours truly.”

Keltie punched him on the shoulder.

“Let’s go meet your lovely mother,” she said.

“And after that, I'm kissing you again,” Grayson said. “And no excuses this time.”

      “Deal,” Keltie said.

      THE END.

      Author's Note

Well, this is the end, guys. And I debated on even writing an author’s note.

But as I was editing this book, giving it a final proofread, some things jumped out at me that didn’t jump out at me the first time around.

For example, the fact that yes, this story is about the action, but it’s ultimately about the characters and how they come together, grow outside of their comfort zones, and do something bigger than themselves. In many respects, that’s where each of the mavericks are at the end of the story.

      And that’s pretty cool.

I too am not the same person I was when I started this series.

Before I wrote Galaxy Mavericks, I didn’t think I was the kind of author that could write nine books, keep them secret, and then launch them all around the same time.

      But I did that.

And I’m glad I did that because it helped me keep a handle on the story. And it taught me a lot about myself. What it means to be an author. How to bottle up suspense.

And it taught me a lot about you, and readers out there just like you, because this has been my most successful series to date.

I couldn’t have done this without you. Every series is an accomplishment, and this one is a special one. So thank you for reading. And I hope you enjoyed the novel.

I’m off to the next writing experience, but I hope that the Galaxy Mavericks stay in your memories for years to come.
