Of course she wouldn’t knock him unconscious or anything close, she wasn’t strong enough for that. But she was good enough to leave him with a bruise, not to mention leaving her with the satisfaction of having done something herself.
“That is for Margaret,” she said, brushing her hands together.
The coffeehouse was completely silent, all the men just staring at her, for once not because she was beautiful, but because she was dangerous. Unpredictable.
Imperfect.
She nodded to the room in general, then turned on her heel, taking the arm Nicholas held out for her.
“Nicely done, princess,” he said in a whisper. “Only next time, try to keep your fist tight through the whole punch. Makes for a better impact.” He drew her through the pub to the outside.
“I love you, do you know that?” she replied, leaning into him.
“I do.”
