My mouth dropped open, although I shouldn’t have been surprised.

“Are you there, Sandi? Hello? Hello?”

Pete told me to close my mouth and once again asked who I was talking to.

“My aunt has some big news.”

He didn’t comment, but picked up the newspaper and turned to the sports page.

“I’m here, Aunt Martha. Just momentarily speechless. Is he still a prepper? Is he still working for Trap?”

“Yes, he’s still a prepper, and yes, he’s still working for Andrew.”

“I don’t know what to say?”

“Wish me love and blessings, along with a little good luck. We’re a good fit, Sandi. I’ll be preparing for the future with him.”

“Well.” I still didn’t really know what to say.

“Oh, and Andrew finally contacted Christine. He flew her out to the coast, and they had quite a nice reunion. If they stay in touch, I think she’ll be good for him.”

      “You’ve been busy,” I said.

“That I have. Griz will be here tomorrow to help me move my things, although I’m not taking much with me. He came for a visit a few weeks ago and your cousins got to meet him. They came in from out-of-state for a few days. They’re thrilled about our union, and probably glad I won’t be around to nag them anymore.”

      “Your union?”

“Didn’t I mention that we’re getting married? I may ask you and Pete, and my sister and brother-in-law to join the festivities, such as they are. We’ll be married at the mansion.”

We talked for a few minutes with her telling me she’d see me soon, and ended our conversation.

“Who was that?” Pete asked again.

“I told you, it was Aunt Martha. She and Griz are getting married. Oh, and she may have hooked Trap up with someone from his past.”

Pete grinned and returned his attention to the sports page.

“Good ol’ Aunt Martha,” he said.
