“They’re not for you,” she said primly. She felt a little bad about denying the man a sandwich, but she’d only made enough for two, and besides, she was almost certain that offering Wade her deli meat was one quick step away from offering him everything. Again. And she was still pissed from the last time.
Not pissed enough though, unfortunately, because she couldn’t help leaning in and doing a little sniffing of her own. Thankfully, he didn’t notice. She swallowed her moan as his scents of soap and clean, healthy sweat mingled into something heady. He smelled like summer. Like hard work on a sunny afternoon followed by hard lovemaking on a moonstruck night.
Or maybe just soap and sweat, but still…mmm.
“Maybe not, but Coach and Lorelie are gone for the afternoon. They went to see one of Coach’s friends in Brawley. Coach said he needed to see something new.”
“Oh. Well then.” She tried to take back the picnic basket, but he just moved it farther out of reach. That wouldn’t do. She needed to get gone. Being alone with Wade was a recipe for a whole lot of trouble.
Trouble her body yearned for with a capital T.
