‘And your children.’
‘And the children you and I will make.’ He smiled. ‘I love you,’ he said, his mouth closing her eyelids.
‘Ah,’ she said with a little shudder of pleasure. ‘That’s the first time you’ve ever said that to me.’
‘Did it sound rusty? I’m not in the habit of saying those three little words.’
‘You’d better get some practice, then,’ she invited huskily.
‘Hold my interest?’ she echoed. ‘You’re my life, Blaize. I enjoyed working, but I’ve discovered that I want more. I want your love. I want a family, I want the fulfilment that only you can give me.’
‘You won’t pine for the excitement of your job?’ he asked.
She touched his lips, almost amused at his lack of self-confidence, when her love for him went so very deep.
‘1 shall pine for nothing, Blaize. I never wanted commitment. It frightened me, in fact, but not any more. Now I can’t wait to be your wife, and to start our lives together. You are my everything. I’m the one who should worry about holding your interest!’
‘Do I really mean that much to you?’
He purred. ‘Let me prove it to you…’
‘Perhaps we should go and kiss each other somewhere else,’ she said shakily, after a long while. ‘The children will see us.’
‘The children have already seen us,’ Blaize said gently, caressing the golden mop of her hair. ‘They need to see us. They need the love you can give them, the love that you can’t help shedding all around you, like an angel … my angel.’
