      She cried

      For the first time

      And it felt overdue

But it wasn’t because of pain, it wasn’t even because…

She had wanted to know that she came to this choice on her own

She knew that she should have told me, but she wanted to wait

Until she knew that her doubts were settled

She didn’t want to worry a few months further down the road

Questioning if I had said something to make the choice for her

And now… how could she… how was she supposed to…

How do you tell the person you love they lost a child they didn’t know they had

      So she cried

She cried because if for a moment she considered this…

Because all she wanted then was for me have a moment to be happy for the life we created

And she knew that the time for such a moment was now passed

      She shed her tears

The purest and the most selfless tears any soul ever could

As she let her body fall to the floor

No longer able to spare the focus required to maintain her own body

She needed to be able to

      just for a moment

      let go of everything…

      … to say goodbye

Chapter Seven - Truth Be Told

It took me a while to understand

When I found her the truth of the situation didn’t come to mind

When she told me she was sorry I couldn’t feel the weight of her words

      We drove in silence

I didn’t understand what was happening

But I didn’t need to, I just needed to get her to the hospital

She keep thinking to herself that she didn’t want it to be there

That she didn’t want me to find out sitting in that place

But she didn’t know how to say it

She didn’t want me to hate her

      We walked in

And in the most clinical way possible

She walked up to the counter and said

      “I’ve had a miscarriage.”

She held herself back from turning to me as she gave them her information

As I felt my heart change the way it beat

As my body began to cry before the realization of what she said registered
