    I Breathe You

      “Three things?”

“Yep. My car. My toothbrush. And my man,” I tell him.

We climb out of the truck, and I’m immediately attacked by my four puppies and my man.

      Chapter 58

Sunlight filters through the threadbare sheet hanging over the window inside the cabin. I watch Ian as he sleeps, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. I trace my finger along the rust-colored stubble on his jaw, and his smile broadens. Without opening his eyes he snatches my hand and gives me a sweet knuckle kiss. “You’re real,” he breathes against my skin.

I grin and snuggle closer. “Of course I’m real.”

His brings my hand to his mouth, nipping gently at my knuckles. “I was so afraid when I opened my eyes, you wouldn’t be here. That I was having a dream. And what an amazing dream it was.”

I roll on top of him, sitting up, straddling his waist. “Funny, that. I had a pretty amazing dream myself.”

His hands drop to my hips. “How about an instant replay?” he says huskily, flipping me over so I’m beneath him on my back.

My eyes shine, and I nod up at him.

Last night we practically ripped one another’s clothes off as we worked our way from the front door to the bedroom in a frenzy full of passion and need. This morning, he lazily takes his time exploring every inch of me. My nerve endings practically vibrate with desire. He taunts and teases, his tongue a mini torture device as it trails down my neck, stopping to tease my erect nipples before slowly sliding lower.

I gasp and tangle my hands in his hair as he skips my most sensitive parts to nip my inner thighs. He smiles up at me, working his thumb in circles on my clit while probing gently inside of me, first with one finger, then two. My back arches off the bed, desperate for the release I’m edging toward. I close my eyes and move in rhythm with him as his fingers work their magic.

“Open your eyes, Sunshine. I want you to watch,” his voice is thick and low. I thrash my head back and forth in response. He stops moving his hand and repeats, “Open your eyes Sunshine.”

Dying inside from frustration, my eyes pop open, locking with his. “Please, Ian,” I beg. His eyes are hooded with a passion so palpable, I’m certain I could hold it in my hands. He toys with me, bringing me to the brink, over and over. Finally when I’m positive I can take no more, he rolls off the bed and fumbles in his discarded jeans for a condom. He slides on top of me, cradling my face with his hands.

I’m aching with the need to have him inside of me, now. I reach between us and guide him into me, letting him know I’m beyond ready. He groans loudly as he thrusts into me. We move together slowly, each time bringing me closer to the ultimate release. My fingernails dig into his ass, drawing him deeper.

“Wait for me, Sunshine,” he pants. But it’s too late. I’m already there. Within seconds, his body tenses, and I feel him throbbing deep inside of me.

We stay connected, not moving, trying to bring our breathing back to normal. When he rolls off of me, the smile on his face is so achingly beautiful that I can’t help but smile back.

“Your uncle told me there’s an operation you can get to fix your voice,” he whispers into my hair. I nod. “You going to do it?”

      “No, I don’t think I am,” I say.

“I think you should,” he says.

I sigh loudly, “It won’t fix it entirely, Ian. It’ll just make me sound like a croaking frog instead of a whispering one. I’ll never be able to sing again. What’s the point?” A shit-eating grin creeps across his face. Not the reaction I expected. I arch an eyebrow at him, “What?”

“I think you should have the surgery. That way if I fuck up again, you can yell and scream and get it out of your system,” he says, clearly amused by this revelation. “And it would be so hot hearing you scream my name when you’re coming.”

My mouth pops open and I playfully swat him. “First of all, you can read my lips if you keep your eyes open. Secondly, anger management has taught me there are better ways of dealing with anger.”

He swallows. “Hopefully nothing that involves prison.”

I laugh. “It’s only murder if they find the body.”

After we shower and dress, he walks me around the property. The house is nothing more than a cabin, and it’s in pretty sad shape. He explains that the previous owners built it in a hurry to have a place to stay temporarily until they figured out what to do. Charred remains and a crumbling foundation are all that’s left of what used to be the main house.

“That tree line is the only thing separating your property from mine,” he points to the copse of trees in front of us. “I’ve thought about clearing a path through there.”

I laugh. “Why would you do that?”

“In case you never talk to me again, at least I could watch you from a distance and dream,” he smirks.

“Yeah, because that’s not creepy and stalkerish at all,” I chide.

“Seriously. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. Your house is nicer than mine, we can live there and use this place for the all the dogs we’re going to rescue,” he explains as he pulls me against him, my back molding against him perfectly.

“Slow down, Andretti,” I giggle. I turn in his arms and lock my fingers behind his neck. “I think I might take some classes in the fall.”

“I think that’s a great idea. What are you thinking about studying?”

“I don’t know exactly. I want to do something with my music. Just because I can’t sing doesn’t mean I have to give it up entirely.”

His eyes sparkle. “Maybe you can teach piano lessons? That’s all Emmy talks about, wondering when she can come back out and play the piano.”

I snuggle against him. “Maybe. It might be nice having something to occupy my time.”

He squeezes me tightly. “I’m sure I can help with that. Because let’s be clear here, you’re mine, I’m yours. You can have your own toothbrush. No way in hell you’re driving my truck, and I definitely won’t be sharing you with anyone. I’d say that settles things, wouldn’t you?”

I brush my lips across his neck. “It’s a start,” I tell him smiling.
