He or She is a part of you

      And together we’ll make three

      Welcome to this parenthood

      You’ll make a wonderful daddy

I’ll be standing next to you for good

I’m a mommy and that’s not too shabby

“What do you think?” She asked, her stomach turning with the scant amount of lunch that had stayed down.

“I’m a daddy,” he sighed with awe.

She clasped his hand in her own. “Our own little firecracker.”

In one swift movement, Sam was on his knees in front of her lifting her shirt up. He kissed all around her stomach before placing one last kiss just below her belly button. “Hello, little firecracker. I’m your Daddy. I can’t wait to meet you.” He looked up at Sophie. “How far along are you?”

“About five weeks.” She ran her fingers through his hair and his grin grew even wider.

“One of our shower sessions?” He wiggled his eyebrows a little.

Sophie felt her cheeks heat up in slight embarrassment. “I believe so.”

He stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist while hers wound around his neck. “In that case, I think a re-enactment is in order.”

“I think I can be convinced to participate.” She lifted herself up to give him a quick kiss. “First one there gets the scrub down first.”

Sophie took off running out of the studio.

Sam walked toward the door with a smile. It was races like this he always liked to lose.

He took one last look at the canvas before leaving the studio.

“Time for Daddy to make some fireworks.”

      About the Author

Lindsey Gray dreamed of being several different things as a child such as a doctor, an actress, and a chef, but none held her attention like putting pen to paper and creating her own world through words. She has written three full-length novels and one short story for The Writer’s Coffee Shop Publishing House and is now taking the self-publishing leap with her novella, “Fireworks”.

A mid-west native, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, reading almost anything she can get her hands on, and making life interesting at each and every turn.
