“I just don’t get it. You know she’s nothing like that bitch that fucked you and the club over, Tig. That woman was a piranha, intent from day one to fuck with you and fuck y’all up.” She places her hands on her hips and gives me the same look my mother has given me since the day I learned to walk and talk.
“I don’t need you in my face, Tawny. Danika and I are done. Finished. Over. It’s time to move the fuck on.” I walk away from her with one destination in mind. My room, with a bottle of Jack. I don’t need nor want a woman breathing down my neck tonight. Fuck ‘em all! I don’t have to explain shit to anyone. I ignore her as she stomps behind me. I go to the bar, get my bottle, walk out the back door and keep going through the grass and pavement. All the while, she’s calling out my name, cursing me out for ignoring her, and throwing sticks and rocks at my back as I continue to pretend no one is there.
“Listen here, Mr. Pissy Pants, you can’t just walk away from me. If you don’t make shit right with her, you’re going to regret it.”
“My choice, Tawny, whether I regret it or not.”
Danika
I drive home with tears streaming down my face. I can’t believe I gave that son-of-a-bitch my heart and my body. He said all the right words, did all the right things, then threw it in my face when I told him I was ready for more.
“We’ve never been anything more than friends with benefits, Danika. Why would you go there and do that to us? We agreed!”
“We did no such thing!” I scream back.
“We did. I told you I wasn’t capable of giving you more of me than my body. I never hid the fact from you that Wendy fucked me over to the point that I never want another relationship again!”
“You need to think about all the times we were together. All the things that left your mouth while you were buried inside of me. Think about all the things we shared while lying there panting after our lovemaking...don’t! Don’t you dare call it fucking!” I say when I see his mouth open ready to interrupt me. I know him well enough to know what was fixing to exit his big, fat, lying mouth. “I love you, Tig,” I cry out.
“No!” He screams, then his face changes. His eyes become blank, his features become hard, and his mouth tightens. I can feel the tension and hatred rolling off his body. “I can’t see you anymore, Danika.”
“What?” I cry out. The shame of him using me, using my body, rolls through me and I feel sick. I almost become violently ill.
“Goodbye, Danika.” I turn and run.
He gives chase.
We argue.
It’s done.
We’re done.
My heart will never be the same. He stole it and has run away with it. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to show my face here again.
But the secret I hold, will change everything and everyone’s life.
