I hated my life, but it was all I had.
It was nothing.
Yet everything.
For a brief time I was happy.
I had a job. I was earning money. I could see a future.
I should have known it wouldn’t last.
And it didn’t.
The accident should have killed me.
I should have died three times.
But I didn’t.
She saved me.
A girl who was suffering through her own trauma found it in herself to reach out.
She didn’t look at me, she looked within me.
She found the boy behind the tattoo, behind the scars, behind the pain.
I don’t know what my future holds.
I don’t know what path I’ll take from here.
But I do know this:
I now know what love feels like and that makes me the luckiest person in the world.
