“Bert is really a gentle giant,” Mary put in. “Poor man never wanted to box in the first place.”
Several other wedding guests were vying for the squire’s attention along with his new bride. “Well, we’d best leave ye to it,” Patrick said. He looked at Mary. “Come, lassie, let’s go see how the preparations for the wedding supper are progressing.”
She squeezed his hand and smiled. “Aye, I have to make sure everything’s in order. After all, this is our first chance to host one at the inn.”
His new bride smiled. “Oh yes, I have a feeling that no matter where the two of you end up, you’ll host many a wedding supper.”
Patrick smiled. “That we will, Mrs. Ferguson, that we will.”
