He’ll never know how much pain his semifluid liquid metal hydrogen caused me, but that’s probably for the best.
Emotional support during the writing process came largely from my family: Patricia, Matt, Paul, Katherine, Vivian, Donna, Chris, Fred, Marianne, Freddie, and Ollie Jane, whose strength was of particular inspiration. There are, however, exactly three people without whom this book could never have been created. Jamie Costas hired me to write it and gave me a tremendous amount of freedom to push the story to new depths. My husband, David, kept me fed and loved while again listening to every word. And my unspeakably amazing daughter, Anorah, was kind enough to sleep for enough hours each night during the second six months of her life for me to finish the manuscript. More important, however, the new life she has given David and me brought with it a deep well of emotions and ideas that I never dreamed existed before she was born. She is my bean of joy and I love her more than I can ever say.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
In addition to Children of the Storm, Kirsten is the author of its immediate predecessors, Star Trek: Voyager—Full Circle and Star Trek: Voyager—Unworthy, the last Buffy
book ever, One Thing or Your Mother, Star Trek: Voyager, String Theory: Fusion, and the Alias APO novel Once Lost, and she contributed the short story “Isabo’s Shirt” to the Distant Shores anthology as well as the short story “Widow’s Weeds” to Space Grunts.
Kirsten has undergraduate degrees in English literature and theater arts, and a master of fine arts from UCLA. She is currently working on her first original novel.
She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, David, and their daughter, Anorah.
