It was a reminder that I couldn’t go back to the days of being single where I would aimlessly sleep with woman after woman. I fell in love with Morgan Bentley and made her my wife. In turn, she made me a father. Giving up was no longer an option.
I sit back, waiting for Morgan, busying myself by checking the latest scores when a text comes in. The timing—uncanny. The name pops up: Milkshake Bitch.
Unable to hide the smile that plays on my lips, I read the text, and as each word registers and I piece it together, my throat curls into a tight ball. The bile rising so fast—I’m unable to breathe in any way, shape or form.
Two words flash on the screen.
I’m pregnant.
Bonus Scene - Olivia
“Livvy, what the hell are you going to do?”
Stella sits beside me on one of the airport lounges in complete an utter shock that I’ve just told her I’m pregnant.
Pregnant.
I’m still in my own shock, and I’ve known for over a month. Somewhere, deep inside, I never expected the pregnancy would get this far along.
Mom had a few miscarriages over time, and I assumed I’d be the same given our genetics. Yet, the obstetrician, the one I found through a panicked search in Google, happily reminded me that everything looked great. A textbook pregnancy which I should be very grateful for.
No morning sickness, bloating, and my energy levels aren’t that low.
Nope… apparently, I’m having the best pregnancy ever.
Just one minor detail—I got knocked up on a one-night stand to a man in the middle of a separation.
I would take—in a heartbeat—all the morning sickness in the world to be pregnant with a man I loved. A man who I could call my husband.
“I sent him a text, last night. I couldn’t handle the guilt anymore,” I tell her in a low voice.
“And?”
“He hasn’t responded.”
I don’t blame him, I assumed I’d never receive a response. The guy had his way with me, fulfilled some air hostess fantasy and probably never wanted to look back.
“Honey, I don’t even know how to process this.” Stella reaches for my hand, grabbing it tightly. “I’m here for you… Robbie, too. Why don’t you move closer to us? We can help whenever we’re free. That is if you’re still going to work.”
As I say the words, my cell vibrates in my pocket. Scanning the notification that sits on my home screen, the number is unfamiliar, but there’s two words, just two words which sit boldly on the screen and confirm the truth.
Noah: I’m married.
I don’t need Noah Mason.
I will do this myself.
With a surge of anger, I unlock my screen and delete the message.
