“Talk about a scary story,” Anna said. “It’s playing out, isn’t it? The pages are turning.”
Gene made another turn, and as the tires again lost and gained traction, a broad, contented grin settled on his face.
“What are you smiling about?” Anna said.
“Anna, think of it. We know how the story ends.”
