Ivy was staring down the long end of the four to six month estimate the medics had given her of when she could expect to deliver. Because of her human genes, it was really only a guess. Great galaxies had she been pissed when Rya went into labor before her.
“She’s my sister,” Garrik argued, his voice muffled through the door. “Of course she wants to see me.”
“Elder Blue, you could simply ask her.” Fawkes, always the voice of reason. “Perhaps the Vasera would like to be surrounded by her friends and family during this wondrous occasion.”
Sion snorted. “Smooth, but he just wants to see the baby.”
“What do you think, Xandra?” Rya asked their daughter.
They’d selected the name to honor Rya’s parents, and looking at his daughter now, Sion knew they’d made the right choice. The name just suited her.
Wrapping his arms around his mate and his daughter, he held them close and protected while their friends continued to bicker outside the door. He’d do anything for them, be anything, and as long as he breathed, no one would ever harm them. He hadn’t thought his heart could hold any more love, never imagined he could feel so strongly for another being besides Rya.
He’d been wrong.
Together, they were his world, his entire reason for living, and selfishly, he wanted them to himself for a while longer. So, when Rya asked if they should relent and let the others in to meet their daughter, he held his family tighter and shook his head.
“We have eternity. Let them wait.”
