“Don’t you dare say that,” she protests, nuzzling her face into my chest.
“Hey,” I tilt her face up so she’s looking at me. “I’d do it again any day of the week.”
I brush my lips against hers lightly, just a tease.
“Get a room,” Chase complains, walking up behind us.
“Hey, you’re the one who dragged us out to see this weirdo band,” Hadley points out as we make our way into the crowded bar.
“They’re not weird, they’re incredible.”
We manage to grab a table off to the side of the stage and a few short minutes later the band makes its way to the stage. As soon as they do Chase’s gaze is glued to the singer. I can’t say I blame him, not that I’m purposefully checking her out, but she’s absolutely gorgeous. And, as soon as she opens her mouth the entire bar goes silent, enraptured by her angelic voice.
“Lila Jones,” Chase mutters, staring at her like a man seeing god.
“You should talk to her after the show,” I suggest.
He grimaces and shakes his head.
“Last time I was here the bartender told me that she’s dating her drummer. Besides, I’m in such a weird situation now living with Amber. It’s all too complicated.”
I shrug and look down at Hadley tucked against my side.
“Make all the excuses you want man. Some women are just too hard to resist.”
