Thank you to my various publishers and translators all over the world, whose support has meant so much to me. While I rarely understand the finished results, you’re clearly doing something very right. I would like to give a special shout-out to Milena Havlová, my Czech translator, with whom I exchange regular emails. We have developed a special bond over the years and I love hearing about and seeing photos of your beautiful twin grandsons. Thank you for keeping in touch all these years. Hopefully we’ll get to see each other again soon in person.

Thanks also to Corinne Assayag, who designed and runs my website—joyfielding.com—for her hard work, suggestions, and occasional reminders to update my monthly letters.

Virtual hugs to my son-in-law, Courtney, my sister, Renee, and my housekeeper, Mary. I hope that by the time you’re reading this, COVID will be a distant memory and we can hug in the flesh.

I would also like to thank my good friend Vic Senese, one of the nicest and most decent men I know, despite our being on opposite poles, politically speaking. Vic graciously volunteered to accompany me to a gun range in Florida and even let me fire off a few rounds from his gun. (I actually managed to hit the target several times!) If we can come through these last divisive years with our friendship intact, there’s hope for everyone.

I would also like to thank and apologize to Veronika Sorek, my hairdresser of many years, who provided me with all the information on dating sites that I used in All the Wrong Places, and whom I forgot to thank in that book’s acknowledgments. So, thank you, Veronika, for showing me how these sites work, and for the wonderful scalp massages and haircuts. They are much appreciated.

A final thank-you to my grandson, Hayden, whose story “Hayden Goes to the Pool,” which he wrote when he was seven years old, is the story I incorporated into Cul-de-sac. I owe you, sweet boy.

Again, my thanks to all of you who buy and read my books. Stay safe and healthy. My love to you all.

      Warmly,

      Joy
