Hawk's Slave: A Phantom Warriors' Story

Hawk’s gold gaze pierced her. “Back on the drac ship, I thought that you’d betrayed me,” he said. “The way you were cozying up to Zeth, it looked like you’d...”

She couldn’t hold his gaze. “I know.”

“Did you really prefer his touch to mine?” Hawk studied his hands.

“What do you think?” Opal took a step closer.

Hawk’s expression was hopeful but reticent. “Did you sleep with him?”

Opal cocked her head. “Are you jealous?”

Softness fled from his face. “Goddess yes! I don’t like to share what is mine.”

“Neither do I,” Opal snapped, then her voice softened. “Is that why you came for me?”

Hawk opened his mouth, then hesitated. “Why didn’t you betray me? You had the perfect opportunity.”

“Yes, I did.” She sighed. “But I told you before, contrary to what you believe, I am loyal. I always have been.”

He moved closer, never taking his gaze off her. Opal felt the heat radiating from his body. It made her skin prickle, then need struck. Just being near him made her moist.

“You never answered me,” she said.

Hawk brushed her hair back from her face. “What was the question?” His warm breath bathed her cheek, making her shiver, making her want.

“Why did you come for me?” Opal repeated. She needed to know the answer.

“I told you,” he said. “Because you are mine.”

Hawk closed the distance between them and pulled her into a searing embrace. Their mouths devoured each other as their tongues fought for supremacy. Hunger exploded as he bit down on her lower lip and sucked it between his teeth, worrying the flesh.

Opal groaned and felt her body flush with desire. Goddess, she wanted this man. Needed him. Had no desire to ever give him up.

Hawk slowly released her, running his tongue along her lip as he did so. “You are mine, Little Cat.” His gaze was fierce when he looked at her. More fierce than she’d ever seen. “And I am yours,” he added softly, then pulled her into his arms once more to prove it.
