Carl turned sideways, mumbled, “Whatsup.”
Pete pressed his lips together in order to quash the rising smile. The Wolf Pack wouldn’t fuck with Max. Not even four on one.
“Hey, Pete, I’m headed home. You wanna lift?”
Pete nodded. As he eased past, Carl whispered, “Catch ya later, flatdick.”
Pete kept his mouth shut. The Wolf Pack was the types of assholes that were hoping for a zombie apocalypse. Aggravating them would be stupid. Even now, Carl might be counting down to the day he could get away with murder.
