“Some men get better looking every day.” Hannah couldn’t resist running her fingers slowly down Ford’s spine. He straightened slightly, but didn’t look at her.

Shifting, Hannah pressed against him, loving the way his breath suddenly stopped. All the other guests were talking and laughing. They didn’t see her hand lightly brush his thigh.

“Everyone in the dining room!” Gavrila yelled. “I’m ready for the couple to cut the cake.”

As Hannah joined the others, she felt Ford’s fingers close around her arm and pull suddenly. Before she could react, he was moving up the stairs, almost in a run. “We’ll be there in a minute,” he mumbled in a low tone she might have mistaken for anger if she hadn’t known him so well.

She was out of breath by the time he pulled her into the first room and slammed the door behind them.

“Ford!” she smiled as she tried to scold. “The others are waiting. We can’t just run off from the wedding.”

He pressed her body against the back of the door with his own and lifted her head.

His mouth came down on hers with a wild hunger he could never seem to satisfy. She didn’t have to touch him to make him want her, Just the smell of her, or how she moved, or knowing she was looking at him, was all the spark he needed. But when she touched him—all control snapped.

Hannah pushed him away. “We have to go downstairs,” she said between kisses.

Strong hands burned across her body, carrying warmth through the clothes. “Not yet,” he whispered in her ear.

Hannah pushed against his chest. “We can’t be doing this now. We’ll have to wait until later, when we get home.”

“I am home,” Ford mumbled as he pulled at the buttons of her collar. Home would always be Hannah. When she playfully slapped him away, he slid his hand behind her back and pressed her hard against him. “Tell me you don’t want me, my darlin’,” he whispered against her hair.

“No.” She kissed his jaw. “I’ll never say that.”

He stepped suddenly away and crossed to the window. Their wedding quilt lay neatly folded on the window seat. Ford tossed it over his shoulder.

With a sudden haste, he swung her up into his arms and headed toward the back stairs. “We’re going home,” he said as he took the stairs two at a time. “Jinx and Zachery will understand.”

“But…” She could think of no reason to stop him, or of another place she wanted to be. “But why the quilt?”

“In case we don’t make it all the way home.” He winked.

Hannah laughed as she glanced over Ford’s shoulder to see Gavrila staring openmouthed at them crossing the yard to the barn.

“Wild!” Gavrila shouted. “Both of you are wild as this blasted Texas wind.”

Hannah snuggled closer against Ford’s chest and felt the rumble of his laughter.

“Want’a dance with the wind?” He kissed her neck.

      “Forever,” she answered. “Forever.”
