    Nyx the Mysterious

    Prev Next

Guess what? There’s going to be an unveiling of a certain statue we’ve all been waiting for at Artemis’s temple in Ephesus this coming Saturday at 2pm.

You have to come! (please, please)

Hades has agreed to chauffeur you to the temple and get you back in plenty of time for you to do your very important job.

      See you there! (hope, hope)

      Your friends,

      Artemis and Athena

P.S. Aphrodite and Persephone and lots of other students at MOA say “hi.” They love that we share your letters with them.

“Wow!” Nyx hopped up and did a happy dance, waving the scroll around. “That is so cool about the statue! And that Artemis and Athena share my letters with other MOA students, right?” she told her birds.

Saturday was the day after tomorrow, and of course she’d go. With a fingertip she traced the words “very important.” They had been darkened to make them stand out. So there, Echidna! I am too an important goddess! she thought. She’d try not to let it go to her head, however. Still, it tickled her that she was going to get a statue when she remembered how Echidna had taunted her, saying that the gods would probably honor her with one if she rid the world of Nyx. Anything involving immortal temples usually made the news. Wait till that horrible she-monster heard about this!

Nyx rolled up the scrolls and set them on her wooden table beside the speckled shell Eos had given her. With a yawn she bid her birds “good day.” Then she went down the hall to her bedroom.

While changing for bed she thought about how most of the world’s inhabitants would be rising now and going about their day. It made her feel proud to think that because she had performed her very important job—and because the Oneiroi were now back where they belonged!—everyone would be well rested.

Yawning, she shoved back the heavy black brocade curtain that surrounded her bed and climbed into it. She could hear her bird family’s sweet singing from down the hall. With a contented sigh, she snuggled down under the covers and soon was fast asleep.
