  Kat started toward the door, then paused and caught Jason up in a hug. “Sorry I was so rough on you. You’re a good kid. Just…steer clear of the demon-magick from now on, okay?”

  Jason blushed, but nodded.

  She punched his shoulder. “Don’t be a shithead.” Then she headed for the door.

  Once outside, she pulled her phone out as she headed for the car. “Siri, call Richard,” she said to the phone. “I have an apology to make, goddam it.”
