"Oh, shit," Frost said, cutting off another bite and bringing it to his mouth. "Maybe we should go get them."
"How are they getting that over the banister?" Jennings asked, tilting his head.
We all stared up there as Arden and Calen worked together to pull another of the little three-foot Christmas trees that lined the balcony over, sending ornaments skidding across the floor, a couple bouncing out over the edge and raining down on a couple of heads. Ricki and Casey were apparently the muscle, dragging the tree over to balcony and then leaning the top against it, making more ornaments rain down. Then as a unit, all four of them lifted the tree from the bottom until it teetered over the banister.
We all watched as it finally broke over and fell, this time nailing the teenager. A phone went tumbling across the floor and under a table as we all cringed.
"He has less of a chance of survival because he wasn’t drinking," Dad said, shaking his head. "Poor guy."
"Who was supposed to be in charge of them this time?" Dawes asked, looking around for a responsible party that might be feeling bad.
"They probably ran as soon as Ronni got taken out," Riley said.
"Doesn't matter," Da said, sighing. "They just wait until whoever it is needs to go to the bathroom, and then they'd scoot." He headed toward the elevator and four sets of eyes found him before they all started giggling and took off running further back into the area behind the balcony. "We're going to have to start assigning shifts if everyone is going to keep getting married. Clearly they need multiple sets of eyes on them at all times."
